I think the VAR has to be the best thing to happen to football since goal line technology. VAR stands for Video Assistant Referee and is an assistant referee who's job is to review decisions made by the head referee using video footage that is made during the match. The VAR was used severally during the 2018 FIFA world cup and was proven to be wholly beneficial to the football world as a whole.

The thing about referees is that they can't be every where at once. When they call a foul or don't call a foul, it's based entirely on what they saw and the angle from which they saw it. Because of this, lots of mistakes have been made by referees over the years. In order to solve this problem, the VAR has been used. The VAR doesn't just watch replays but analyses the videos and makes sure the referees decision was best one. If the referee isn't sure, he calls on the VAR to get a sure decision.

Taking all this into consideration, the VAR is one of the best things to happen to football and should also be used in other sports also
