When I heard Benitez having the job for Newcastle before, my initial thought was "He'll gonna bring Newcastle to the top level". He's an experienced coach with coaching experience like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Napoli, etc.
But before leaving, he turned the club into a complete joke. I think being relegated to the Championship is a good place for them at the moment. Gain back the confidence, get the right players, and establish winning ways to stay positive next year.
Benitez was with them as he took over managing a sinking ship. He stayed on and bought them up but the owner sold some of the players and Benitez left. This is a difficult club to work for under the current ownership and they were destined to be in a relegation battle from the start. I think Steve Bruce will walk at some point fairly soon. If they go down I don't see them coming straight back up as it is a dogfight in the Championship.
Oh I didn't know that. I had a negative vibe for him though as he was leading Chelsea and Real Madrid. Thanks for the info!
