Just like Manchester City, AC Milan is not wasting time in getting its business done early on this summer transfer window.
They have already secured four players, necessary for the revamp the new owners are leading. Necessary to bring Milan back into competitiveness.
Those four players are the following:
Mateo Musacchio - 26 Years Old - Center back - From Villareal C.F.
Price: €18M
The Argentine is a great defender, if maybe a bit injure prone. For the past couple of season he's been linked with many big teams, even Barcelona, but in the end it is Milan where he will play next. If injuries permit, he shall be a great reinforcement for their defense.
Franck Kessié - 20 Years Old - Defensive midfielder - From Atalanta
Price: €20M
Yes, I know he looks more like 30...
Kessié is tough, strong, and powerful. Physicality is best aspect. A box-to-box, tireless fighter that is there to recover the ball when his team loses it. He can also score, as he ended the season with six goals in Serie A.
Ricardo Rodríguez - 24 Years Old - Left back - From VfL Wolfsburg
Price: €18M
Wolfsburg had a terrible season, and so did Ricardo Rodriguez. Last season his asking price was €36M, but after a lackluster season, where his defensive issues showed, his price was halved. However, he's only 24, and if he can recover his form he'll be a fantastic addition for AC Milan.
André Silva - 21 Years Old - Striker - From FC Porto
Price: €38M
There were endless rumors about Morata and Belotti, but in the end it seems it will be FC Porto's academy product André Silva who will lead the front line for Milan next season.
The young portuguese striker shows a lot of promise. This season, he scored 16 in 30 Liga NOS matches, and with his national team his record is even more impressive. In just 8 matches with Portugal he has scored 7 times. Plus he also banged 4 in 8 Champions League matches.
Those are four great signings, if I do say so myself. Most of them are still very young and with plenty of room to improve.
No doubt Milan will be one of the teams to keep an eye out for in Serie A next season. Their new Chinese owners are not playing around. That's for sure.
So, what do you think?
Will AC Milan return to their former glory?
Will they win anything next seasono?
Do you think those players have enough quality to do something great with Milan?
And finally, is Milan moving in the right direction?
I hope Milan, or any team that isn't Juventus, will win the Serie A. As for the winning, we have to see what Juventus will do this season, as they just keep on buying the best prospects in Italian football (Dybala, Schick, Caldara, Rugani and Orsolini just to name a few).
Ricardo Rodriguez, in my opinion, is the best player out of these 4, considering his role. Andrè Silva is a big gamble, whereas Kessiè started off pretty well but didn't shine as much as his teammates when Atalanta earned their access to Europa League.
Just like Manchester City, Milan has to remember that spending more doesn't mean that you automatically become the best team. PSG is a great example of this.
It's good that they are getting their business does early, gives the squad a full preseason together and time to gel. I think getting into the CL is the aim. So a top 3 finish. Definitely moving in the right direction.
