This is SPARTA!!!! Bahahahahaha. I love it. This kid is one heck of a hitter for a corner. He doesn't shy away from contact at all. That's a great quality. He also has a great knack for reading the QB and knowing where the ball is going. Congrats Cal.
Manley was actually a good soccer player that turned into a solid defensive back.
Was recruited hardest by Cal. They were first and rewarded. He also had offers from Boise State, BYU and Nevada but it was always Cal.
Had minimal interest junior year so he decided to switch schools. But things worked out big time for Zahran after a senior season with a lot more production.

Do you ever rank schools in the recruiting process? Interested in who you think are some of the teams who are setting themselves up for improving their teams. Not necessarily the power house teams that are good every year, but the middle teams who are giving themselves a chance to move up.
California is usually pretty good on the offensive side of the ball, but they've always been lacking on the defensive side. While he might not be a superstar recruit, Manley's speed and overall quickness should be a welcomed addition to their defensive backfield.

The Bears kicked off their 2019 recruiting class early with today's commitment from 6-2/170 Upland High School cornerback Zahran Manley after his weekend visit to Berkeley.
"It was probably my third time up there," said Manley. "It just kind of reaffirmed what I already believed about the great culture, great coaches, great teachers, great facilities and great academics at Cal. And it's a beautiful place, too."
Manley's interested in studying business and sports a 3.8 gpa at Upland. He also plans to be an early enrollee next spring to get a jump on acclimating to collegiate play and academics.
"Academics are a big priority for me," said Manley. "Cal's one of the top schools in the country and one of the best business schools in the world.
