Imagine a Champions League final that would pit Barcelona against Real Madrid or both Manchester clubs. The appointment would have something to spark, given the ancestral rivalry linking these clubs and the huge stake, no?
It would be light years away from what could happen in the equivalent of the C1 in South America, the Copa Libertadores. The whole subcontinent, and in particular Argentina, longs for the two best enemies, Boca Juniors and River Plate, to be in the final and offer a "Superclasico de la muerte". It would be a first at this stage of the competition
The next night, on the blows of 3:30 am (game broadcast on RMC Sport), we will indeed know if Boca Juniors, in favorable bidding during his semi-final return to the grass of the Brazilian club Palmeiras, after a success 2 -0 to go to Bombonera, will join River Plate for the big meeting of the final. A final played, for the last time this year, also on two games.
Because in the other semifinal, River Plate managed a great feat last night in Porto Alegre (2-1) to have the right to play his sixth final of Libertadores. The men of Marcelo Gallardo were however badly embarked after giving in the first leg and at home against Gremio (1-0), the defending Brazilian.
Led to the 80th minute, the players in red and white jersey, worn by a great Ezequiel Palacios and a determined collective, managed an unlikely reversal of scenario in the last ten minutes to snatch their ticket to the 95th, thanks to a Rafael Borre's 82nd-minute header and then a second 95th-minute penalty - after VAR's video refereeing led the Brazilian club to claim - signed Gonzalo Martinez.
The final of the Copa Libertadores will take place on November 7th and 28th. It will be the occasion of a fourth coronation for River Plate, which had triumphed in 2015.
In the event of qualification, Boca Juniors would play much more of a symbolic point of view: rush in the league despite a very rich workforce (Tevez, Zarate, Nandez ...) and beaten by River at home last month in the league (2- 0), Guillermo Schelotto's men could equal the record of seven Copa Libertadores titles belonging to another Argentine club, Independiente.
Sad that I cannot watch this one
I'll give the higjlights dude ^^
