The 26-year old who is a product of the Stuttgart Academy leaves Bayern Leverkusen after seven illustrious years making over 230 appearances.

In 2011, Leno became the youngest goalkeeper to feature in the Champions League at age 19 years and 193 days, when he manned the post in a match against Chelsea during a group stage match.

Although he did not make Joachim Loew's World Cup team, he was part of the Confederations Cup winning team last year in Russia and has been capped six times by his country.

His arrival means Arsenal will have to get rid of one of their goalkeepers with reports linking Colombian International, David Ospina to Turkey and sources in Italy say Napoleon, who were interested in signing Leno prior to the Arsenal deal are looking to take Petr Cech who has a year left on his contact on loan.

The German goalkeeper becomes Coach Unai Emery's second signing of the transfer window, following the arrival of former Juventus and Switzerland International, Stephan Lichsteiner on a free transfer from Juventus.

Arsenal have also reported agreed a deal for the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender, Sokratis Papastathopoulos with the deal set to be announce by 1st July.

The Gunners are also set to be in advanced negotiations with Sampodria for Uruguayan midfielder, Lucas Torreira who is currently with his national team at the World Cup and made a substitute appearance against Egypt in their first group match.
