West Ham beat Chelsea 1-0 at the London Stadium to hand David Moyes his first Premier League home win of 2017, while his opposite number Antonio Conte's Chelsea have now dropped just 5 points less than the whole of last season.
Moyes' landmark victory was sealed by Marko Arnautovic, who scored his first goal for the Hammers with just six minutes on the clock. Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard were both guilty of missing chances to rescue a point for Chelsea, whose title challenge is withering away quickly.
Despite the win, West Ham remain in the relegation zone but a first win in nine gives them a timely boost ahead of the busy Christmas period.
Arnautovic celebrates his goal with Noble
West Ham started brightest of the two teams and were deservedly ahead after just 6 minutes. Arnautovic played a one-two with Manuel Lanzini and slotted his first Hammers goal beyond Thibaut Courtois to send the home fans into raptures.
Chelsea took over and began to dominate possession but had to wait until 29 minutes for their first real attempts on goal as N'Golo Kante and Davide Zappacosta drew saves in quick succession from Adrian.
Conte wasn’t pleased with his wasteful attack and made some changes just after the break. He introduced Pedro, Victor Moses and Willian to try and shake it up, but it didn’t spark much.
Conte hasn't got a good record in London derbies
In fact, it was West Ham who came closest to finding the net as Arnautovic and the relentless Michail Antonio posed a threat on the counter attack.
Chelsea still dominated possession, and with West Ham wilting and starting to sit deeper, an equalizer seemed likely, but the closing stages Morata, who as been guilty of too many misses this season, was guilty again.
Having been played in by Kante, the Spaniard fired a glorious chance wide and then Hazard shot over a minute later as the Blues lost more ground with the two Manchester clubs.

West hams defending was world class. Hazard didn't create anything and when they also manage to lock down Morata is all over. Even Kanté failed today. Chelsea is out of the title run, and United will be as well if they lose tomorrow..Then it's all over before christmas.
Exactly, if United fails to win today's match, i'm afraid City is the title winner already. Manchester Derby are not always easy encounters. Both teams have got to play to the fullest to win in matches like this especially one where we have Jose Mourinho vs Pep Guardiola.
On the otherhand, I salute the bravery of West Ham yesterday. They locked all entries after stealing that early goal. It is indeed a world class defending.
Don't criticize kante even when chelsea was losing he never felt frustrated he played as much as he could and to me he was the most impressive player on the pitch
Well, it's not mathematically over, but it's true that City has all the cards in hands now... it would need a big meltdown for them to crash and let the title slip away. But let's see first how they fare against United tomorrow.
Man City Vs Man UTD is one of my favorite fixtures but it looks like Man City to win and they seem like the title winners this season but I have a feeling that Man UTD isnt going to make it easy for them
Today's Manchester Derby is not going to be an easy one for the both sides. United would try their best to close up the 8 points margin that City is leading with. Failure to do that makes City 11 points clear and by then we may assume the title race is over for United. I'm sure J. Mourinho would be tactical about this match to ensure he is still in line for the premier league title. I hope United wins. It would make the league more competitive. @herverisson @trev03
I wouldn't go as far as saying that I hope United win (I can't quite like Mourinho) but I do hope they draw with City and make them sweat as much as possible. :) We'll have the answer today!
Forget about Mourinho or Manchester United as a whole, dont you think the league and title race would be boring and less competitive if City is using 11 points to top the table. It would be difficult for any team to meet up. The concerns of teams would be how to qualify for UCL. It is just a matter of time - we shall know the results. @herverisson
You right @williams-owb, need a little more competition for City!
I wish there was a way for me to understand these soccer posts.
You have just copied the Sky Sports post-match article. You've just changed the adjectives! Every paragraph is the same...
i liked this post
I like football much like I do not know anyone who does not like to play football, but thank you very much a very good football game review. West Ham Best wishes
Chelsea 😌😞😟
GREAT , keep going
Game over for Chelsea
This was a rather unexpected result, very disappointed with Chelsea more so that I lost my wager on a team that I thought was guaranteed to win based on current form.
i think we chelsea fans should give more chance to Bakayoko...premiership is not easy as we all see it...i believe for next years ahead, he will become one of the best midfielders we've known. Chelsea like our anthem goes Rain or sun, we will keep supporting till thy kingdom come.....my heart is blue
