I'm excited to watch the world cup as I'm sure most of you are too, but just a word of caution before you do...
I am from England and this year our squad looks very promising. I'm looking forward to seeing those amazing 40 yard goals, those superb free kicks and to see the very best battle it out. That is what us normal people do, but a small minority of people get so emotionally perturbed if their team loses. They shout, scream, swear obscenities at their team and rival fans. These kind of outbursts can be seen on Arsenal Fan TV.
Here comes the warning. These vitriolic fans get so worked up over the game that they increase their stress levels, and risk dying from a heart attack. There has even been scientific studies showing that more fans died on the day of a world cup quarter final match. The old cliche "it's only a game" seems to be missed in these kind of fans.
Be careful kids.
Wow, this is my story almost everytime arsenal loose, but how do you cope with your team's loss? Because I don't know how to and arsenal fan TV always helps me calm down because I get to laugh, but I am trying to stop watching it because of the kind of words used, so what do you think I can do?
It's almost impossible to just turn off the emotional connection we have to our teams just like that. I'm also an Arsenal fan and I know first hand that Arsenal have very passionate fans.
You need to understand the psychology behind what is going on. When Arsenal loses you are hurt emotionally. Football has taken over the traditional role that religion used to play for some people. You should take a step back and try to analyse your behaviour and that of other fans. Try to experience the emotion without overreacting... you know — take a step back and learn to control your emotions.
