Football Team for Russia World Cup to Officially Launch on June 1st

Anchor: South Korea's football governing body has announced the venues for the final two friendlies at home before the men's national team heads to Russia for the 2018 World Cup this summer. With the announcement, the scheduled lineup for Team Korea is almost complete.

Report: The South Korean men's football team’s schedule is taking shape leading up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Korea Football Association said on Friday that the Taekgeuk warriors, led by coach Shin Tae-yong, will have a warm-up match with Bosnia Herzegovina in South Korea's Jeonju city on June first, immediately after which the World Cup team will hold its official launching ceremony.

The Jeonju World Cup Stadium is the home field of the domestic Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors Football Club. Seven of the 23 players who took part in friendly matches held in Europe last month came from this club.

On May 28th, the athletes will compete against Honduras at Daegu Stadium, which can accommodate 65-thousand fans. The stadium is remembered for hosting the third-place match between South Korea and Turkey at almost full capacity in 2002. 

The final roster for the Russia World Cup will be announced on May 14th.

The athletes will gather at the Paju National Football Center on May 21st which is the Monday three weeks prior to the opening of the World Cup. 

On June third, the team will head to Salzburg, Austria which has been picked as the final training ground before heading to Russia. 

After warm-up matches in the European city with Bolivia on the seventh and Senegal on the eleventh, Team Korea will arrive in Saint Petersburg, its base camp in Russia, on June 12th.
