Please note that I'm not an expert, but just would like to share my experiences. This is only a basic summary and doesn't go into advanced details of Forex trading.
I'm knew to the crypto world, but I have been aware of it for around 6 years. A friend told me about Bitcoin and back then it was between $100 - $200. I thought it just looks too unstable to trade, so I'll stick to trading Forex.
Background about my Forex Experience
I first heard about Forex at the start of 2009 using a platform called Metatrade 4, which could be used with EAs or (Expert Advisers) allowing automated trading. This idea fascinated me that scripts and programs were designed to automatically trade for you without your interaction. For example there's many various types such as scalpers, that trade on a short time frame and make a few points and generally the trade isn't open for long seconds or minutes. Break out strategies, hedging, swing trading and just so many to choose from. I hadn't actually looked at manual trading and was more looking for EAs that might be profitable without interaction. There's various sites that review EAs, create and test them.
https://www.mql5.com/en that also provide signals that can be followed from MT4.
There many numerous websites and tutorials https://www.kreslik.com for custom indicators and systems.
BabyPips for training on how to trade Forex https://www.babypips.com/
It's even possible to download Tick Data and run tests from previous years to see how your EAs might perform https://www.mt4backtest.com
For years 2009 - 2010 I actually made some profit doing this and just using EAs. They might lose one day and make a win the next day and gradually my account was increasing.
Although I'd read dozens of strategies and was aware how to trade I just simply couldn't stick to a system and got into bad habits, such as not closing trades in profit, closing trades when they were in a loss and likely to turn around.
I sometimes did very well and then the next week not so well. I just wanted to buy and hold, but that's not really how the markets work and probably should have found something that would support my trading habits and allow me to just buy and leave a trade going.
To sum it up I was a bad forex trader
####Crypto Experience
The same friend from years ago was talking to me a few months ago on the phone and again brought up cryptocurrency and I can't explain it, it was like being hit in the head with a brick. Bitcoin had sky rocketed and there were many changes in the crypo world since I'd spoken to him last.
I was suddenly a little frustrated in myself and shocked like what was I thinking all this time? The hundreds of hours I spent watching Forex charts and markets if I only put 10% of that into Bitcoin and cryptocurrency I'd be substantially better off.
The reason also is because I didn't really want to trade and sit there at a computer looking at charts like I did with Forex.
I just wanted to buy and hold it for as long as possible.
I immediately started looking into cryptocurrency and how the wallets work, buying coins, blockchains etc.
I still am in no way an expert, but see the potential, not really for making a profit, but to get some freedom from the corrupt monetary system that I don't at all agree with enslaving mankind in numerous ways.
I started looking at Crypto ICO's and reading news articles, anything I could find to get more information. There's a lot of them out there also, so I'm still working out which one's are decent.
Such as:

https://www.coinschedule.com
https://www.ico-list.com
I moved the small amount of remaining funds out of Forex and into Bitcoin, from there i split it up into a range of coins.
The profit I've made in months is already far more than I ever made trading Forex in years.
I do know that buying crypto coins and trading Forex are completely different and you can just buy currency such as US Dollars, Euros etc, which would be similar, but not likely to ever make anything doing that.
I do see the advantage, freedom and potential cryptocurrency can offer. After only recently hearing about SteemIT I realized what an awesome idea it is and have encouraged friends and family to look at it.
I've mentioned in another post that anything we receive cannot make us happy, but rather what we give.
I'm in no way a professional, but just wanted to share my experience. If you have more experience than me, please offer any advice or tips that also anyone else could learn from.
