- What is Bonsai?
- an ornamental tree or shrub grown in a pot and artificially prevented from reaching its normal size.
- the art of growing ornamental, artificially dwarfed trees or shrubs.
I myself is a bonsai enthusiast, I love growing this small tress it gives me the motivation to live everyday, to me they're not just plants, they're art! Most of us think that they're just ornamental plants put in the corner of the house or table etc. but they are not, these plants has life like us they struggle to live everyday to prosper.
2. Things most of us don't know about bonsai.
- there is no bonsai seed - there is no such thing as "Bonsai Seed", bonsai is tree dwarfed by the owner or caretaker for pleasing the eye of the viewer.
- there is no indoor bonsai - most of the bonsai should be outside for sunlight, without sunlight your bonsai (if you have) will be undergoing "permanent dormancy" (die).
- bonsai can be displayed indoor for a short duration of time (1-3 days) and should be brought outside for sunlight for the rest of the week.
- they are not starved to be dwarfed - bonsai should be well fertilized and watered.
- they are very pleasing - if grown well they can be very one of the most beautiful form of art.
The purposes of bonsai are primarily contemplation (for the viewer) and the pleasant exercise of effort and ingenuity (for the grower).[2] By contrast with other plant cultivation practices, bonsai is not intended for production of food or for medicine. Instead, bonsai practice focuses on long-term cultivation and shaping of one or more small trees growing in a container.

Good piece of writing. Trees are not dwarfed but shaped through horticultural methods that have been perfected over the past few decades.
