What were the budgets for the 2017 season and where did the teams finish. Here below is a list of de budgets of the teams from lowest to highest.
10 Force India.
The team that ended behind the top team in the constructor championship. Had approximately a budget of 109 million that is the lowest of all the teams. They have a support staff of around 380 people. Relatively the team did very well on a low budget. The team is based near Silverstone.
9 Sauber.
A year ago the team that was on the brink of disaster after no money in the 2016 season. They got their self a new owner for the 2017 season. The problems seemed to be away with a budget around 109 million. They only have 109 people in their employment. But with lots to make up after a dramatic 2016 season. They couldn't come further as the last place with this low budget.
8 Haas.
The team that is based in America has a relatively low budget but ended in the same place as their budget is. They only came eight with a budget of 115 million just 6 million more than Sauber and Force India. The team is relatively new in the sport but it is doing very well for a new team with a small budget.
7 Torro Rosso
The second team of Red Bull became seventh after lending their driver Sainz to Renault and firing Kvyat. They have a budget around 115 million the same as Haas. But Torro Rosso can rely on Red Bull for there help. the team out Florenza has around 350 employees. They now have their new power unit the Honda.
6 Williams
The British team with a German power unit managed to come 5th in the overall standing. With a budget of 120 million, they did a pretty fine job this year with a new driver and one who wanted to retire the year before. Williams has around 530 people in employment and is therefore twice as big as Sauber and Haas. They can expect a higher budget next year with new funds from the Stroll family.
5 Renault
Renault finished on a disappointing 6th place. The team that supplies the motors of Red Bull and Torro Rosso didn't manage to pass Williams in the last race. They had a bad start with Palmer who only managed to score 8 points in his season. The team has a budget of 172 million which is the smallest budget of all the factory teams. The team has 600 employees in the base team and 400 in the engine department.
4 McLaren
The first team to pass the 200 million budget only managed to finish 9th with 30 points. The team had problems with their Honda power source and didn't manage to end most of the races with two cars still running. The team based in Woking has 730 employees to pay. It needs to do better in the 2018 season with their new Renault engine.
3 Red Bull
The team based in Milton Keynes didn't manage to join the fight for the title with their budget of around 250 million. The car couldn't stay up with the Ferrari and the Mercedes. But had a sizeable margin against the midfield teams. The team managed to come third in the standings with a Renault powered car.
2 Ferrari
Ferrari made this season exciting and joined the fight for the championship but didn't manage to hold off Mercedes from their fourth in a row. The Italian team had a budget of 260 million in their car and around 120 million for the engine department. Ferrari has 1350 employees that is even more as Mercedes has.
1 Mercedes
The defending champions have won it again. While Ferrari put up a fight the German team beat them with the speed of the car and its consistency. The team has a budget of 310 million for the car and the budget of the motor is unclear. The team based in Brackley with the car department hat 850 employees there and in Brixworth 450 employees for the motor department. The team with the highest budget won again
