The new challenges for season 5, week 6 of Fortnite have arrived, and there’s one rather strange one among them. The “search between” challenges are nothing new, usually telling you to hunt between three random objects on the map for a battle star, but this week? We’re being asked to “search where the Stone Heads are looking.”

There are six of those across the entire Fortnite map in season 5, and none of them are especially close together. They are one of the only historical “artifacts” that made their way through rifts for the time travel theme of season 5, along with the Viking Village, and they’ve done relatively little so far other than be a nice source of chests if you come across them.

Go here to see how to complete five time trials. Go here to see how to solve all week 6’s challenges.

But fans did figure out relatively early on that they were all looking in one direction, before this challenge was ever issued. Despite being on opposite ends of the map, they were all staring toward a central point. There was a theory that this might be a new season 5 mystery to be uncovered, but in truth it seems it was only leading up to this challenge.

Here are the six heads and the directions they’re looking. As you can see, they’re all staring toward a central point on the map, Salty Springs.

Unlike the other search between challenges where it’s immediately obvious where the battle star is, this one is a bit more tricky because it’s a wide search area. Turns out what we’re looking for is not quite in Salty Springs, but southwest of it on a little hill. Here’s where that is on the map:

Once you’re there, go to the center of the hill at its highest point, which is where you need to search for the battle star to complete the challenge. Once word of this gets out, there may be quite the scramble to get to this point on the map, so you may want to show up armed and dangerous, first landing in Salty itself to gear up.

I do like the fact that Epic is making these search between challenges a little more involved. This was one they set up from the initial planning of the season, and would definitely be one of the more difficult ones if…you didn’t have guides like this to look up so you can skip calculating where exactly six statues are looking for yourself. With a few more weeks to go, I wonder if there are any other elaborate hunts like this in the cards, like some secret in Viking Village people haven’t figured out yet. I’m also hoping for more map additions like the village and the stone heads, but here in week 6, we really have not seen any significant additions like that all season long.

So, head on down to that hilltop and start digging for treasure, and in other games, be sure to stop by and thank your stone headed friends, who will in turn give you a lot of treasure for your match ahead.
