Women Will Soon Have Equal Privilege of Being Slave Soldiers

in #freedom8 years ago

In an odd push for equality, the Obama administration declared its support for requiring women to register for the military draft in a "a symbolic but significant shift that reflects the U.S. military's evolution from a male-dominated force to one seeking to incorporate women at all levels."

This is part of an otherwise healthy effort to remove gender-based service barriers in the military, and the administration emphasized that it is still committed to an all-volunteer force.

Women, like men, wouldn't be forced to serve unless there were a national emergency like a major world war.

So why not just remove the archaic Selective Service law instead of elevating women to the privileged status of being slave soldiers? Well, that would require Congress overturning the law, which can't be done in the next two months before Obama leaves. The symbolism he's going for would be lost on our short attention span culture, or simply knocked down with the incoming administration.

Unfortunately, this is a step in the wrong direction and if conscription were ever invoked in the future would make for many unhappy slave soldiers.

Note to any seething nationalists reading this in disgust: I've spent most of my career in, and then working with, the military, including years in combat zones. I loved the experiences, but conscription = slavery.

Maybe this will make conscription even harder since this will effectively double the resistance against it.

It's good to be positive!

Because I think there are people, particularly MRAs that are realising that the only time politicians ever really think about reversing gender discriminating laws like this is if women are suddenly the victims of it as well. So it's partly a case of if they're going down they're going to take feminists with them as well who are the main ones that are opposing having conscription for women.

Also yes, it's only ever been men who have had to sign up for the draft in America, no idea why the democrats would push so hard for it though.

Weird, right? Although I've never met a Democrat who didn't think everyone belonged to the state; they just seem to believe the state is always a force for good.

I am a big proponent of equality. I want all men to be exempt from the draft and all individuals should pay as much taxes on property as the church. And I want to be a stay at home parent.

Then go squat on some land way out in the woods and cut yourself off from society and you can have your wish.

Look battle. I want to keep this a free country. So I don't want anyone who doesn't want to fight for this FREE country to be forced into fighting alongside soldiers who need to focus on the enemy (IE: BF soliders, LTs and the skinny G-Fkr looking forward to his "virgins") You can't look at the past"wars" and say "but they will only sacrifice our men AND women for a just and right war". If they don't have "enough" people, maybe they will think twice before sending them in to park a tank on a sovereign oil patch. Foreign (iraq) and domestic (ND)
Yes we need to defend this great country and we have always had brave people step up. And if they try to sucker punch us again we find the INDIVIDUALS! responsible and wipe them off the face of this earth. Not the whole country, no matter how shity it is.
You are not my enemy, so stop trying to tell me what to do. Squatting is illegal, I love this country and every one who wants to be in it.

I can agree with some of what you have said. However, I stand firm that women should have to register for the Selective Service as long as men do. The day that they abolish the draft, then nobody has to register for it and that's fine.

If women want to be truly equal in every way, then why shouldn't they have to register just like men?

In case you haven't noticed, I don't give a shit about being "politically correct." I speak my mind and say what I feel no matter who it offends.

It's about time that people stop tip-toeing around the important issues because they are afraid of not being politically correct and pissing a few people off.

I wasn't a fan of either candidate that ran for President, but I voted for Trump because at least he has the balls to say what's on his mind and he doesn't dance all around the issues like all of the other politicians do.

You can't please all the people all the time. That's just the way it is.

So I stick to my guns and proclaim the idea of "slave soldiers" in the US to be ridiculous.

Anybody that is not willing to step up and fight for the country they love has no right to enjoy all of it's benefits.

We all know that freedom isn't free. It costs money, and it costs lives. It's cost millions of them over the course of our history. Women are 100% equal to men in my opinion, so let them do everything that men have to do.

something about 'involuntary servitude'?

Yup, that odd concept that humanity just can't seem to shirk

I think this is awesome. I am a firm believer that everyone should serve their country in the military for at least two years, as they do in countries like Israel.

When you reach your 18th birthday, you should be conscripted for two years, and then the military will help you either pay for college or give you a stipend after that.

I served in the Army with many females who were just as capable, if not more capable, than some of the men. There is no reason why females cannot go into combat with their male counterparts. In fact, it already happens, even though the government would have you believe otherwise.

The selective service is completely necessary should the United States need to draft soldiers, sailors, or Marines to complete it's standing military.

If you don't like it, then fuck off to Canada.

I believe that women and men are equal 100%, but you know what I've see a LOT of? I've seen a lot of women who want to be treated as equally as men, but only when it's convenient for them.

Honestly, that's the vibe I'm getting from this article. If women are truly 100% equal to men, as I believe they are, then why shouldn't they have to register for the selective service just as men do?

The selective service has nothing to do with turning people into "slave soldiers," either. It's a measure to make sure our country has an adequate military to protect us from whatever crisis we may be facing at the time.

Don't you get that it's much bigger than you or I, or equal rights for men and women, or anything else going on that time? If we cannot protect our country and happen to lose it, then we won't even have the opportunity to argue over equal rights, because we'll be busy being run by some other country.

"If you don't like it, then fuck off to Canada." <--likewise

I would never, because I love this country way too much. USA is the absolute best country in the entire world and is the best place to live. I've been all over the world, and let me tell you, most other countries are absolute shit holes compared to the United States. I was thinking some countries should be totally leveled to make room for the US to park our tanks and planes.

"we won't even have the opportunity to argue over equal rights, because we'll be busy being run by some other country", which explains why so much of the rest of the world has such love and respect for the USA

I don't get what you are saying at all. Makes zero sense to me. Not sure how one relates to the other...

I can understand @contentking, there is a magnificent read for you in About Face by Colonel Hackworth, a national hero from the Vietnam conflict. It will explain a great deal about the misconceptions of war ... and the manipulations of government. I highly recommend it to you.
