This is exactly the misleading propaganda as it is to be expected from TED.
The dangers she brings up are about "voting get's manipulated" or the the terrible support of "J*w-Haters".
The reality this vile piece of garbage is distracting from is the fact that just by a few facebook clicks they can assess your personality to an extend where they can predict whether you are a danger to the government or a "high risk" individual for other purposes, for example higher insurance premiums or if you are less credit worthy based on your PERSONALITY and not your credit history.
It goes way beyond selling you shit you don't want. It is about predicting behavior and absolute, total control.
A website called https://illuminus.io/en/ offers already it's services.I wrote a post about it.

Combined with the Social Credit System this will determine which "privileges" you will get to enjoy and which career path is suitable for you. So, on the good side, if you are a confirmed psychopath you might have a great future ahead as a police officer or politician...

Misleading propaganda? Did you read what I wrote in the post?
Personally I think that irrespective of some of the subtones, it provides a very good insight into how data gathering works and to where it is leading. I think you are being extremely polarized in your thinking and allowing your political views to influence the way you are looking at some very important information regarding algorithms and how the flow of information is being controlled and tailored.

When I wrote "misleading propaganda" I was referring to the TED talk itself. I agree with your opinion, however I see the problem here is what is being said and what is LEFT OUT. In my mind the problems are being minimized and the real dangers are being omitted. Classic disinformation. But hey, maybe I need a bigger tin foil hat.
