That sound like a very reasonable price, plus you have the advantage of mobility. You can just cruise across Europe and enjoy all the different climates, people and scenery! That is priceless.
Wow that is so amazing Mark!! Thanks for sharing, could come in really handy as inspiration to building my own one day!^^
Definitely going to need help though as my experience with this is like zero to none...guess sitting in front of the computer much of my life hasn't helped me so much in that department! :P
Thats amazing @markwhittam .... Firstly,i being a civil engineer appreciate your idea ,art and work...especially the start i.e foundation, you made it perfect buddy ,then every step seems much planned and well managed and yeah, the results are mind blowing, finally the last photo gives architectural smell..
A house on wheels, that is the best idea, a moving house. You can choose where to live without paying for the new house . Great idea. I can't believe you did all of that by yourself, that's mind blowing. It looks fabulous now. You are awesome my friend. Wow man wow
Oh My Goodness! Your home looks so cozy and warm. The kitchen is fabulous and I love the Norwegian wood burner. I dream of building a tiny home in a few years (even without building experience). Your article is certainly encouraging. Thank you for sharing it.
Man after watching all these efforts and your love towards your family and children made me cry man, and really my heart is singing for blessings and remember my words you are great man and great fighter and no situation can let you down and continue your efforts and you will get your land of freedom where you and your family will get the true happiness and if i would be there i can't stop myself to help you man but after watching this post, i really felt the inhumanity in this world and some people enjoying the all the resources of life by using power and others are facing the scarcity but i salute you man, keep fighting and you are and you will be winner in all situations. Wishing you and your family an great and safe day. Stay blessed. 🙂
I love your tiny house build! I would never have thought to use a horse truck. This was a stroke of genius! Nice and sturdy yet roomy enough for a family. I agree about the horse pee. Soaks into everything. You did an amazing job.
First let me say it looks amazing. I have some questions I hope you can answer though.
Would this have worked out cheaper than just buying a mobile home straight up?
Also, how do you go about not having a static address for the yearly registration and insurance demands?
Thank you!
This cost about the same as a new mobile home but we used to have a new one and they are made out of plastic, very hard to keep warm and they usually feel very small inside due to all the overhead storage and shower rooms.
We have an adress we use in Sweden and we usually go back to Sweden in the summers to work and do vehicle check etc.
This year we are trying to find land so we won't be going back up north, if we do find land then we'll just re-register the tinyhouse.
You know my first thought? It's naive, but when I was little, the TV advertised a TinyHouse on wheels for Barbie. It was similar to yours, but in pink. As I wanted it...
In your house I especially like, that is inside the house is covered with wood, it is so warm, cozy and homely)
I'm deeply impressed by the result of your work!
We were going to move from the flat in the own house when we get money for it, but now I'm so in love with your idea that I start to dream of it too!-)
Freedom of movement and freedom from being a part of the system is priceless!
I know your complicated situation with homeschooling and seeking for a good country to live in, but when I see how magnifiscent you can make a diamond from trash I'm sure you can overcome everything!
I envy your house!-)
That looks like a really great build. Especially the insulation. I think if I were to build a tiny house again I might go the truck route or a smaller trailer for portability. Our tiny house is very comfortable but a little big and awkward to drag all over the place.
Again! Wow I didn't know you have built a tinyhouse before.
We used to have big trailers and they were very hard to move around and dangerous on the road.
We have many friends who built theirs on a truck base and they never had any problems getting into tight spots and there very easy to drive.
We went for a box truck so that if the old Mercedes dies (which they never do) then we will just lift the box onto a new truck =)
I love to read your stories - about your house and about your family. The best photo is the first one - not because of your house, but because two of your precious kids are outside. As you have said time and again, that's the most important part! :)
Wow. So much work you had to put into it, but the beauty is that it was built with love and care.
So creative and very impressive and I love your tiny, cozy home.
It's just perfect. Thank you for sharing your hard work and your beautiful finished project.
Awesome.. The freedom alone is worth it. What a great idea. I love the fact you can go anywhere with it. And it looks pretty roomy , and I just love the counter tops in the kitchen. Nice job.. followed and upvoted
Wow.. That's an awesome Home @markwhittam... I dream to have one.. I think It will be much easier for travelers to have a home like that. We don't need to pay for hotel and must be so very comfortable.
This is such a good post. You did an amazing job on your tiny home. I just went to your tiny home blog, but found you absent. I hope you continue to tell the tales of your trips. Very fun read. 🐓🐓
Do you really do it? Excellent! I like that! I would also like to make it in the Philippines and the wood should be water resistant and moisture resistant to prevent it from breaking! And just wipe the wooden floor of a liquid killer of a white termite. This is one of my dreams to do. Excellent job! How long have you been doing this and how many hours before you finish?
That is a cracking build, bro! I've been in the truck trade for over 20 years and I know what it takes to do the work you have carried out, just to strip this truck down. Have to say I am impressed with how proffessional you have been with this project. You would get a job in any garage I've ever worked in. But then again, who wants a 9 to 5 job, eh?
Awesome post. What do you think was the total cost for all the materials and the truck?
It cost €35.000 or $43.000 which I think is cheap for a family home =)
That sound like a very reasonable price, plus you have the advantage of mobility. You can just cruise across Europe and enjoy all the different climates, people and scenery! That is priceless.
I have a friend in Denmark who did something similar--and also for about US $40,000.
Wow that is so amazing Mark!! Thanks for sharing, could come in really handy as inspiration to building my own one day!^^

Thank you! I'm glad it seemed well planned because it wasn't ;) we just took one step at a time and somehow pulled it off =)

Thank you @wa2qr!
I could never have done this without my amazing partner, she really amazed me with her woodworking skills!
It seems so much smaller on the pictures, funny! I love your home! Looking forward to build my own one day!
Yeah! I need to get someone who's really good with a camera like you are to take good pictures that really give it justice!
Oh My Goodness! Your home looks so cozy and warm. The kitchen is fabulous and I love the Norwegian wood burner. I dream of building a tiny home in a few years (even without building experience). Your article is certainly encouraging. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you! Believing in yourself is all the experience you need to build a dream.
Thanks for the feedback.

Welcome and stay blessed brother.

Yes! The horse trucks are the best, especially the ones with the side ramp =)
I really like your house, it is so cosy but unfortunately a lot of men in Ukraine can`t even hammer a nail.
Thank you @kristinaljfom!
Absolutely brilliant! Completely the other end to my comfort zone but I love the thought of this type of living.
First let me say it looks amazing. I have some questions I hope you can answer though.

Will you be able to return to Sweden if you don't find land?
No! Not unless we want our children legally kidnapped for not sending them to school.
Amazing home! What is it like moving it around?
You know my first thought? It's naive, but when I was little, the TV advertised a TinyHouse on wheels for Barbie. It was similar to yours, but in pink. As I wanted it...

We are very happy in our tinyhouse, it's simple but it gives us so much joy.
Thanks for the feedback @taliakerch

That is very smart! I wish I would have thought of some of this stuff.
If you are interested in taking a quick look we have a very complete blog series on our tiny home build.

Stunning evidence and motivation for many people!

I absolutely love it. You and your family have done some amazing work. The interior finish is top notch and I love your counter.
