True story: So a liberal, decades-attempting-but-never-achieving-proficiency-or-success-in-the-form (and now a bit long in tooth) comedian from the Atlanta area — you know, the comedy epicentre of the yuk-yukverse (am I right, folks?) made a post on the laugh riot topic regarding a Trump supporter who has expressed umbrage at his Trump jokes. So I averred the following in his comment section, paraphrasing, due to the fact I was shortly thereafter blocked (after the predictable liberacrat barrage of boilerplate snark and wit-deficient ad hominem jibes):
Granted, Trump is an easy target, ambulatory dumpster fire that he is, but where was your cutting satire during the reign of former President Drone von Citigroup who, by acting as a One Percenter quisling continued the duopolist-enabled, neoliberal plunder-fest of the global economy that has decimated the lives of the US labouring class and by doing so engendered the rise and election of the present Chief Executive Of Twitterdom?
I mean, where was your rapier, it-is-funny-because-it-is-true insights regarding Obama and his connection to the degradations that the labouring class, minorities, and the impoverished faced on a daily basis during his years in office? Nice of you to finally notice that the republic has taken a dark and dangerous turn. And it took the election of Trump for you to experience the angst and anger that are the tittering seed of comic efflorescence about the situation because…?
After the aforementioned blunderbuss of boilerplate snark and wit-deficient ad hominem jibes, I wrote this reply but was blocked before I could post it.
Alright then. Let’s get this straight, just to avoid any confusion as to what has provoked all the rancour and attendant insults. Darryl Rhoades: Your post expressed annoyance at the thin-skinned sorts who could not tolerate opinions that expressed views counter to their own. Agreed. Those kind of high chair-banging, juicy-juice flinging, his majesty the baby, partisan jerk-nuggets are flat out insufferable.
The scenario described above is a familiar pattern that unfolds when either rightist or liberals are challenged on their partisan convictions: A wall of snark and a citadel of belligerent obtuseness is, almost immediately, erected (e.g., on the thread I was accused by suffers of political dyslexia of being Rush Limbaugh or Steve Bannon) thus reality cannot penetrate the mortar of confirmation bias and skeins of mental razor wire of Dunning-Kruger syndrome.
From where does the liberacrat notion that they are superior in intellectual knowledge and honesty and they possess any greater degree of receptivity to novel information than do rightists? Anyone who has ever approached a liberal from a leftist perspective has been subject to the dismal dance of casuistry and displays of rage-borne bluster that follow.
Of course, Trump is worthy of contempt. But Trump is merely a symptom of the neoliberal disease — which is a direct consequence of your selective outrage and general hypocrisy, dearest liberals.
