Great video bro, this is an excellent question. I feel that the reason people can flag eachother is because of the decentralized free nature of the Steem blockchain. The alternative would be to have moderators, but since the creators allowed anyone to gain influence, the community became self-sustained in that manner. I honestly don't feel like I can speak freely on here, but I do try my best to speak the truth without pissing off others. It's a difficult balance I am sure you are aware of, I remember seeing you when you were a 36. It definitely feels scarier the less tenure you have.

Yeah, of course and I see people are afraid here. They prefer to say something in discord, facebook or somewhere else, rather to say what they exactly think in steem. It's hard to keep that balance that you are keeping, I understand you well because I try to do the same. But we can't hold everything in us forever. We should support freedom of speech.
Well Clix it is not logical for people to say everything out in the open. Life does not work like that blockchain or not! Imagine a husband might tell his wife his boss is grumpy and he does not like him. But this is in private to his wife at home. If something needs to be said in private it is for a reason. You can not just blurt every thought out and then say "free speech". You would be hated by everyone if you did that. If we say exactly what we think about every single thing, we would have no privacy to keep certain things to our selves, or between only close family/friends.. than you are throwing your privacy rights away.
Just because something is shared or thought does not mean telling the whole world about it is the solution. Freedom to not tell by choice is also a form of freedom. We get to choose if we WANT to say things or not. There is no rule you have to say every thought you have, and if there was than we would be suffering from communist dictatorship rule.
So a mans wife might tell her husband her breasts are sore from nursing a baby in privacy. Should he go into his work and say "HI EVERYONE SUSAN HAS SORE NIPPLES TODAY"! You see not everything is meant for public consumption and that which is shared among close family and friends should be respected via boundaries of trust. Saying "free speech" and using that as a pass to share private information just makes someone into a jerk. There is nothing noble in that. A person who does this will not be respected or trusted. I think people also use this 'free speech' notion to try to throw other people 'under the bus'. There is a line of respect for others, and respect for ourselves that should be maintained when exercising freedoms. Otherwise we just ruin our reputation (and I don't mean the blockchain rep score). I mean the way others see us. No one would trust or respect a person who does not show respect for others.
Freedom is not only about giving everything we think away to others. But freedom is also choosing to hold our opinions to ourselves at times. Both are an exercise in freedom. Someone choosing to keep their thoughts to privacy is actually in fact someone exercising their freedom of their right to privacy. Which is their free choice to decide to share or not share who hears their thoughts.
Where is this unwritten rule that true freedom is sharing everything we think? We are allowed to hold opinions to ourselves and we have the freedom to chose to do that or not. If someone tells me I am not allowed to hold my opinion than in fact they are not allowing me to exercise my free right to privacy. And therefore the person in fact does not actually stand for true freedom.
Nice opinion, but in my case I'm talking about freedom of speech. Everyone is free to hold what he has to hold. But everyone has the right to say what he wants as well.
You said some people only say their thoughts on discord. That is because they want privacy. Then you said they wont say things on Steemit. Again. That is their free right to privacy. You of course are free to share your thoughts. But you can not decide what others choose to share or not. It is their free will. Only you can choose what you choose for your own self.
Of course. I'm not deciding here, I'm asking, I just want to know opinions, that's it.
Great well now you have mine.
I feel that as we gain more users on the blockchain, the balance of free speech should self correct. At least I hope so. crosses fingers
