OMG! What a crazy story. Now I feel that my little yesterday's encounter was actually nothing worth to mention...:-) So the guys at that checkpoint are still calling themselves "police officers"? That's insane!!! I'm really glad you got out of it, you must be a good runner though! The situation would have totally scared me, no doubt.
I've read a lot about 'storing surfboards safely in cars' since yesterday. So now I'm the expert if they will ever stop me again, ha!
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your incredible story! Have a great and safe day and an amazing weeked (oh cool it's Friday, I didn't even notice that) :-)
Haha, yeah! The most difficult part was to push 2-3 policemen holding my arms away, I was sure they wouldn't follow me at night, due to their laziness:) Luckily the police in Thailand is more helpful and polite than in India. They would treat you like that only if they know you committed a crime for sure! I watched a video, where they actually kicked the motorbike of some wanted drug dealer, while he was trying to make a U-turn, so he just fell to the ground!
So were you right about the law? I think if it was true, you would know it already, at least somebody would definitely tell you about that!
Holy....! Wow! So they don't have any limits there. That's really heavy! The one who filmed that was brave, too. I guess he wouldn't have ended up well if they had seen him shooting the scenery...
Yip, I was right. My board was safely stored in the car, not interfering in my driving. That means that he wouldn't have been able to charge these 200 euros actually. Probably he realized that, too. That's why he didn't do anything in the end and just threatened me. The next time I'll have a printed copy of the law in my car. When they stop me, I can read it to them. That could be fun!! Haha!
They don't have mercy here if you are a criminal, this is Asia:)
I knew, that you were right! The law sounded ridiculous, even though I agree, that it might be dangerous during the accident! If they stop you next time just ask them according to which law do they wanna fine you, and then like:" ah, did you mean THIS law?" pointing at the paper, " hmm sorry officer, I couldn't find anything about surfboards over here:)"
LOL - That's how I imagined the situation as well, haha! Badass Marly playing with the cops. I defininitely need to film that with my GoPro - just for the laughter!!
Be careful not to piss them off, it can cost you a lot:)
Sure! :-)
