If you think about it, @wolvoman80, no one is forced to use these platforms at all. Not suggesting that I condone the actions and activities of data mining and then selling, but just to say that really, we the people are the ones responsible for feeding the beast by using these platforms.
Like photo radar. People complain that it's a cash cow. It might be, but that cow can only live as long as the people keep feeding it, right? Can't collect revenue from speeding tickets if one doesn't speed, right? The logical thing to do is stop feeding the cow.
Much like these platforms. People need to quit feeding them. No people, no data, nothing to sell.
Sadly though they've become so pervasive that it's unlikely that people will ever reject either of them in the near future. So people will continue to feed the beast they are complaining about...
