Indeed, there is something very limiting about left/right, conservative/liberal/democrat and in many ways, I think that these notions no longer apply in today's world.
The conversation today should be about the gradual loss of liberty that those at the bottom and in the middle of the totem pole are experiencing at the hands of the oligarchs, regardless of where they are in the political right-left spectrum. The media fosters these mock divisions. While we are bickering over Stormie Daniels or alleged Russian interference in the 2016 elections, Hillary or Trump, we are not uniting against a common enemy that feeds us propaganda and seeks to control every aspect of our lives.
Once you get out of the identity politics, suddenly you find yourself in a new paradigm. It is a very lonely experience. Unless they have reached a similar place, you find that friends and family don't get it. I for one, am grateful for the Steemit platform that challenges me to develop my ideas and also connects with like-minded individuals who, like me, no longer fit in their natural milieu. Maybe I'm not so crazy after all...
