Freemasons are attempting to climb an invisible ladder

Strikes me that the kind of guys who want to join the Freemasons are attempting to climb an invisible ladder within a secret hierarchy whose greatest secret is that there are no rungs to the top. Only the aristocracy have no desire to change their class.

I received a private message & submit it here in support of the article I have written for Steemit. The writer prefers, for obvious reasons to remain anonymous.
"I was a Councillor for 14yrs and all the top officers were masons, I was told by a middle ranking officer that you were not promoted beyond a certain level unless you were one. They controlled the councillors by manipulating the information you were given and by manipulating funding you got for projects in your ward, thus influencing your chance of being re-elected. I left because it became obvious that you could not change the system from within, the only way you could work with it was to be corrupted by it."
