Every Mason Lodge is opened and using So mote it be. In Freemasonry, "So mote it be" is the equivalent of "Amen" or "As God wills it to be." It is found in the 14th century Halliwell or Regius Manuscript, the oldest document of the Craft (now housed in the British Museum, London) . "Amen! amen! so mot hyt be! Say we so all per charyté".
Aleister Crowley used "So mote it be" in some of his writings, and claimed it to be an ancient and magical phrase. In modern Wiccan traditions, the phrase often appears as a way of ending a ritual or magical working. "And so it shall be."
