Free Images For Steemit Bloggers

in #freephotos7 years ago (edited)

Everyday I scan Steemit to see how it is doing.

Sometimes I think to myself, "Why does this person use crappy images when there are literally thousands of high quality, impressive images to use for free which are also copyright-free photos?"

Then I think to myself, "Maybe they don't know where to get these free images?"

Here are samples of these free images which don't even need to be sourced. Unsplash.com is an amazing site full of free, copyright-free, Creative Commons images that you can use for your Steemit blogs. It is my favorite free photo site on the internet, so I urge you to explore it and use their images for your Steemit posts. The quality is actually incredible. Some day I will tip all these photographers and tell them about Steem.....

You are free to use any of these images in your own Steemit post. I am on my third beer, and so I am trying to think of ways to help the Steemit newbies create more value.

There are in fact so many incredible images from Unsplash that i found it difficult to pick only a few. There are thousands of gems waiting for you there! https://unsplash.com/

Cheers,
Stellabelle

(please use any of these photos for your blogs)

I check this site. Thanks Stellabelle.

thank you for introducing me to unsplash! I'm on a flight and I'm going to go there now to check out some images:) also if you don't mind me asking, how and where do you go to get some of those really cool moving images you get on some of your other posts?? those are so freaking cool !

Wow, this such an amazing infomation for me. I know how i struggle to source my images. Sometimes i shy away from blogging because of images, so you can imagin how excited i am seeing this. Thanks @stellabelle.

Great article. I've been meaning to do something on this myself, after climbing through the photography submitted on steemit and realizing it's usually not marked for license either way..

https://search.creativecommons.org/

has about 10 sites to search, and if you search on Bing for "creative commons images" it's pretty amazing how many different sites come up.

just mentioned u in my latest post when ur mentioning of the communities thing liek subreddits the new feature, its gonanbe amazing gonan raise steem price up past $2!

yes 100% true what you say @stellabelle
the last few days I see, many use steemit accounts that take pictures of others and also no permission from the parties concerned.
thank you @stellabelle has reminded us

I'm glad to hear you say its been worse I thought it was just me noticing more these last few days. I hope its not always this bad.

yes it is so that happened a few days.
we seem to see, there is no longer any policy from the steemit curator.

I've been using pixabay from time to time which you have suggested before. I think it definitely is better than sifting through google images as google images has a clutter of junk most of the time and the likely hood of you finding a nice stock photo is harder than using something like unsplash.

Also you have the added benefit (and the most important thing) of having copyright free images. Despite the talk about steemit is decentralised and you can do anything you want is not the right mentality.

Thanks for suggesting another site @stellabelle

no problem. I am often surprised that people don't know about the best copyright-free site to use.....

yeah we gotta start using the copyright free stuff to avoid any legal headaches in the future! very smat! smat indeed !
we should make a roadmap for steemit users for 2017 and 2018!

Thank you @stellabelle for sharing this, I've been using pixabay and pixels before, and it seems I have used all their pictures. lol.

Thank you @stellabelle for sharing this info. I am using pixabay for images. Now i will add unsplash.com in my search list

I will definitely use it, I already have an idea.

also me and @dayleeo have a site we made -- http://nomad.pictures -- when we get on the road we will be adding to it daily.

great, thank you.

Pexels is also amazing

Yes I have pexels and check directly in Photoshop. However I am also a photographer trying to sell my photos and it looks like the potential is drying up.

That is definitely a tough field to get into. So much content out there. I've heard Shutterfly is good.

Thanks for that comment. Shutterfly is one of the sites where it seems the focus is on selling prints etc., incorporating your photos. There are several like that.

The purely sales agencies such as Shutterstock (the Largest), iStock, Getty, Alamy provide a front for Royalty Free sales. Basically the purchaser can use the picture for any purpose for ever.

There are also agencies that market "rights managed" services and by restricting the use to one medium, format etc. they will make more money.

Lastly you can just set up your own web site (Squarespace is common) or a managed web site (Smugmug). With these you do your own promotion and marketing and set your own licence terms.

The problem with the agencies such as Shutterstock is that creators' rewards are so low. The most I have received for an individual photo is $2US. Typical sales are 25c.

You need to sell a huge amount to make any money.

On the customer side, what is the incentive to pay for a photo if you can get something as useful at no cost. For businesses, it is a risk question.

Have I the right to use the photo? If I take this one, what happens if every other business uses the same one?

Many people enter microstock because they have already thousands of photos in their library and want to monetise what they have.

The real microstock winners are photo-factories (Check out Yuri Arcurs).

I have come to Steemit to see whether there is more value for my photos if I make blogs and comment than what straight microstock will provide.

I see you definitely know what you are doing. I think you will be surprised at what the steemit community can bring you.

I wish you luck on your journey and have followed you for the ride. I look forward to more!

I'm also using pexels sometimes but rather for visuals I'm creating for my customers. Personally and for my own use I prefer to take photos and edit them, the result might be mesmerizing.

Great website! I will put this in my bookmarks for sure. Well, I guess people really don't know that there are thousands of good quality pictures that are copyright free. A lot probably don't even realize you can't use any picture you find on the internet as most of them are copyrighted.

Cheers thanks for sharing, but having your own pics is also a feeling of proud.
Its my pic. yup dude i clicked this .. hhaahaha

Cool...thanks for the link @stellabelle !! I needed that.

Good information

This is great , sometimes things I write need the perfect picture but I don't have personal ones so I use pixabay but don't seem to be satisfied . This seems even better , thank you !

Thank you for the suggestion that is such a cool site :) lots n lots of pics to choose from:)

Thank you for this valuable resource!

Thanks for the share. Sourcing images aint fun for me. I just have to..

This is really a good news. I am sure, I will see some images that are going to match my next post. Also, i will like to buy you a fourth beer, because today is my birthday. Lol.

happy Birthday! Thanks for your ongoing support of me.

I use pixabay.com and pexels.com

That's so true and nowadays I think that our creativity should be used at most....from the moment we have a Smartphone we have a great cam and a chance... Sites like Unsplash y think that are really great! seriously, but make people to rest aout the entire Job Because if 50% a Post must be supported by the images, I think they must come from the creator... To keep going and making you own photo databank is payless too... :)

Thanks for sharing

Thanks @stellabelle this is very usefull I was just searching around for free images yesterday. Some sites say free and are not. This looks great!

I was just thinking I should check and see what you have been posting and here was some info I was seeking.

hi @stellabelle - this is very true. I use https://www.pexels.com/ for my posts, thank you for sharing yours :)

Great post! The other thing I don't understand is why people don't take their own pictures. Smart phones these days have such great cameras. Many of the photos from my blog come from my Samsung S7 Edge!

Hello @stellabelle

People still fail to understand the importance of pictures on their posts.

Some images explains an idea more than words.

Someone who read my post on sunday told me that even my images were quality content.

The use of good images is very important.

@ogochukwu

I agree. 100%

Nice @stellabelle May I follow you 😊
