This part of your mind may take a little getting used to, but it's quite capable.
The thought comes from a decidedly feminine part of your mind. This part of you is highly instinctual.
Males are physically stronger, but your mind is the one that controls your body. You are a thinker, not a doer. However, you cannot stop your personality from continually reminding you that you are, in fact, a female.
Don't worry, she says. The first thing you notice about your new form is that you are absolutely soaked. It wasn't until now that you noticed your surroundings. You are currently on the bottom of a pool. The water is unbelievably cold.
What's the matter? She asks. You are still learning how to use your own mind, after all. As your thoughts come into focus, so too does your new body.
It's so beautiful, you say with eager glee. The deeper you dive in, the more of your body is revealed. You notice that you now have a humanoid, long, slender body. Your neck is long, as are your limbs. Your legs are humanoid, but extremely long. You are able to extend them by using your mind to use the muscle fibers beneath the skin. Your chest and arms are covered in a thick fur. It is white, and blends well with the blue-black scales that cover your body.
Do you like it? She asks with a little concern. You didn't have enough time to adjust to your physical form before being immersed in this freezing water.
Her question is right. You have many new mental experiences that you have not yet fully acquired. Her concerns may be justified. Being a shapeshifter, you are capable of radically reshaping your body into other forms.
Your clothes, however are not the same. You can't seem to get access to them. No matter how much you struggle to move, your new body seems to be much more resistant to your actions than your former mortal body. The positive side is that you aren't suffocating. Your new body does not require you to breathe.
These scales, she thinks, are very strong. Even if your body is changed to a form that can breath air, they make the body stronger overall.
Her voice is so melodic. She is so kind. She has always been kind. Even though you've only been her for a little while, you'd swear that she's been with you for as long as you remember yourself. You feel comfortable talking with her. You feel safe.
Now that you can move your limbs, you can easily maneuver your body around the bottom of the pool, allowing one of your hands to reach the wall. You had been exploring the limits of your new body, but now, with this new information in mind, you use your power to extend your hand, but at a much more rapid pace than you would normally. The change is exciting, but not as exciting as what comes next. The wall of the pool is coarse, but extremely slippery. Taking a deep breath, you swim deeper into the water. As you submerge deeper, your tail extends, lifting you up off the bottom of the pool.
Ah! She gasps. While she was so occupied with holding her breath, you were able to extend your head out of the water. As you look up at the surface, you notice a glass ceiling. You are trapped in the pool. Worse still, you are completely naked, and unless you can reach your clothes, you will have to explain your sudden disappearance to your friends.
Well, at least you'll have somewhere to hide for a while. Your first instinct tells you to hide underneath the water, but you could easily be found there. Instead, you swim up to the surface. She is hurt, you realize, but not enough to prevent you from seeing the world.
As you do, you notice that the surface, astonishingly, is not the surface at all. There is a thick glass wall dividing the pool from the outside. This is where you are trapped. The wall becomes your new view. You float on your back in this glass prison, with you long, slender body in the center of a pool. You can see various cages, and other humans in bottles. And above the rest of the cages sits a glass dome. This is your place in the world.
Well, you think, I'll just get to know this glass wall. You expand your new mouth, and bite at the glass. It's not until long after you have been perched on the top of the wall like this, that you notice the glass is not completely transparent, but soft, fluffy, and very breakable.
The first time you bite a corner off, you don't notice anything wrong with your body until you see your clawed hands. From the top of your new head, you can see that your eyes are also at the top of your head. This is surprising, because you previously did not have a neck. You can't quite make out what your new ears look like, and you haven't turned your new face around to see it from the side yet.
Finally, with a deep intake of breath, you manage to turn your head. Your eyes are dark, and what you see in the water makes you gasp. You don't remember knowing that your eyes could change color, but now you realize that your eyes are now shades of blue, brown, grey, and rust. You see three fins extend from your back, and you are able to make out tiny wings on your back. You are completely naked, and there is a great deal of speculation among the other trapped beings on your strange appearance.
The wall of your prison is not transparent, but you can see that there are exits all around you. You have no idea what time it is, but you can only assume that you have been trapped in the water for sometime.
