Will history continue to repeat itself? This question floated through my thoughts and got me thinking about the future of the human race and technology. With humans, the argument that history repeats itself is not an invalid one. It would seem people study past to prepare for the future. However, I am not here to argue whether this is true or not.
In nature you see many cycles, the ebb and flow of life, the beautiful chaos that is humanity an its surroundings. I often sight that the world is one big balancing act against constantly competing forces. As humans we play natures games and thrive in these cycles.
Technology on the other hand is something else entirely. It is not human, it doesn’t have innate desire like nature to follow a cycle. It is calculating, exact and holistically logical in nature. Technology is called for disruptive for a reason. Our environment could start reflect machine more than man.
I believe as we advance this technology and move away from a human run world, the idea that “history repeats itself” will be less true every day.
Machines don’t respond to a higher calling, a soul, an invent voice, or an emotional response. They run by command. They remember perfectly. They don’t make the same mistake twice.
Any analysts that are still trying to use the past to give a clue to the future might be completely lost. The future becomes an even greater mystery as technology takes over more. AI can drastically change the future and our history may offer no guiding advice. This however, does not mean that machines won’t have the future mapped out, we may just be the ones on the dark.
Food for thought.
