???Are you struggling to stay consistent with your fitness routine???
???Do you feel like you don't have any reliable workout buddies/fitness friends to help you stay on track???
???Do you invite friends to come join you for your workouts, but mysteriously ......They are Always "Busy"????
Well, I am here to tell you that you are NOT the only person that struggles with this!!!! It happens to most of us at some point in time in life especially if you were never really into exercise and/or get into fitness after a long break/absence!! It is definitely possible, however, that no matter where you are in your journey, you will be able to find great people that are willing to take that trip with you. So I wanted to share a few of my tips to help you get started on the right path to reaching Your Goals and finding Your Tribe!!
Start being consistent on your own!! - The best way to find fitness friends is to be one yourself!! If you are NOT doing it for the right reasons (AKA ...YOURSELF), then how can you expect find other people that will love you for who YOU are if you don't love yourself enough to try?!! If you are someone that constantly starts and stops your journey or don't know where you want to go, then don't expect other people to want to get on that train with you!! They will assume that most likely....Your train will never even leave the station!
Stay Positive - Many times when making changes in our life, it can be really easy to complain and go on and on about how hard things are or how nothing seems to go your way! Well, guess who you are most likely doing all of this complaining to..... Your Friends and Family!!! But remember, we ALL have our own problems going on (duh....it's called LIFE)!!! So when the people that we spend time with constantly tries to unload all of their negative baggage into our already overflowing suitcase, eventually we stop wanting to take trips together!! The world is full of negative people and situations, so we need to be the light that brightens the path for others to find their way in the darkness. Then you will find that your tribe will also provide that light for you when you fall off course.
Join a Group/Class - These are a great way to meet people that are working towards the same goals of health and happiness!! There are tons of classes that are offered and some are free!! If you are on a tight budget, try joining your local walk, run, hike, cycle, etc.. groups!! Also try looking on Social Media outlets(take your pick) and join groups that share your interests and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it! Engage with members and try to make genuine connections with people that you feel comfortable around and can be yourself. Then from there, find people that are somewhat local to your area that you can meet up with to do other fun activities.
Check in on your Tribe - Building your tribe has to be more about creating and fostering relationships than exercise so you can really get to know people and learn about their journey as they will learn about yours! So staying in contact, which can be as simple as sending a text (if you are not a calling type) or private message on FB/IG, to see how they are doing in life!! The check in doesn't have to be related to fitness because let's be real.... We ALL have shit going on!! But I have learned from experience that we MAKE time for things that are Important! And for everything else....We make an EXCUSE!! Finding a really great friend is a precious thing but before you can expect to find one you have to be willing to be one!!
