On holiday 2016 a run into town is always needed to capture the feeling of small farming areas, plenty of local produce and trade goes on. If you lucky you may get to see the auctioning of cattle stock (cattle farming area), auction day is a total fanfare of homemade goodies you will never see in cities.
This particular day was to go via Underberg to Himeville to do a tour through the Old Fort, a story for another day together with some photo's from the museum and history. The two towns are a stones throw away from each other, well worth the visit when in the area.
Going around the corner nearing the end of the drive from our holiday desintation in the Garden Castle uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park we witnessed this unusual view, a crytal wonderland, frozen in time under the nine o'clock morning sun, soon it will all be gone.
Jumping out testing smartphone photography (don't forget smarphone photography with @photocontests ) here is the magic captured on the day. Some snow had fallen in the mountains as seen in the first photo, icicles hanging on the barbwire fence like frozen washing on a line, from farming watering system.
Twinkling under the sun a fantasy story glistening right in front of you, not something you will see anytime soon. Surrounding farmland dry straw like colours of winter tells the full story, a little ice age happened only where the irrigation system had been left on.

View down the road toward the mountains with yellowed ground, green where pastures are watered.
To the right you can clearly see the irrigation system has been moved onto the next part of the farm, that is the culprit for the frozen land before your eyes.
