Just another day in a tropical fruit paradise! Hanoi, Vietnam that is!
Walking down the street after doing my morning walk and run, I was happy to see that they were selling sugarcane! Cut up and peeled, ready to munch on, turning it into juice in my mouth! If you have never had raw sugarcane, I HIGHLY recommend it! The juice is off the hook also! Less than $1 USD for this bag!
After getting the sugarcane, I picked up 2 pineapples, cut and peeled, ready to head, straight off the streets of Hanoi! Less than $1 for 2!!!! They cut it in a cool fashion too, to cut out the little knobs in the pineapple, nice!
I also picked up a bunch of bananas, for about $1.50 USD, not bad!
If you ever make it to Vietnam, which I highly recommend, you will be pleasantly surprised at the wide variety of fruit. Lots of durian, jackfruit, avocados(AMAZING!!!!), apples, oranges, dragon fruit...too many to list! And the great thing is most of these can be found by sellers on the street! If you walk around you are bound to run into a fruit seller in even the big cities like Hanoi and Saigon/HCMC.

Jack fruit's interest me. I have yet to use it in cooking (as it is quite expensive to get where I am from. but it absolutely fascinates me.
May I ask if there is a particular way that is best to prepare it for eatting
hi, i don't know much about jackfruit prep, as they just eat it raw here! i have heard about making it tasted like "pulled pork"....Jackfruit is amazing btw, i think that is where juicy fruit gum got their flavor! i guess youtube it and see what you find? hope all is well, peace from hanoi!
