The fruit structure is almost similar to the guava water. Therefore, the fruit jamblang included into the Myrtaceae (jambu-jambuan). In some areas of Indonesia, jamblang fruit is known by different names such as cashew kling (Gayo), jambe kleng (Aceh), jambu kalang (Minang kabau), jamblang (Betawi and Sunda), juwet, duwet, duwet manting (Java), dhalas (Madura), juwet (Bali), clayu (Sasak), duwe (Bima), jambulan (Flores), raporapo jawa (Makasar), alicopeng (Bugis), and jambula (Ternate).
Jamblang can grow well in the lowlands to a height of 500 m asl. The height of the tree can reach 10 - 20 m. Jamblang tree with thick trunk, grow bending, and branched a lot. The leaves are green, thick, wide, and have a pinnate bone.
The jamblang flower grows in the axillary of the leaf and at the end of the branching. The petals are light green and bell-shaped. Crown flowers are oval, and has a white stamens that smell nice.
The pieces of jamblang are oval and about 2-3 cm in size. The fruit is green when young, and blackish purple when it has matured. The flesh is white. The taste of the fruit is sweet, sour, and sepat. Jamblang fruit also has white seeds shaped like a capsule.
