My FIL and I climb up to the roof and pick this up to share with relatives and neighboursπ
Hellow Foodies and Steemit Fellowsπ
It's Monday and time to create any post about Fruits and Veggies, recipes tooπ and this week, on behalf of @lenasveganliving, our #fruitsandveggiesmonday will be hosted by our lovely Kati @plantstoplanks, and if you want to know more about this competition please read through Steemit Fruits and Veggies Monday π
I have issues with internet connection and mobile app that I use to enjoy my day on Steemit for 2 weeks now, but I'm trying to catch up with everything again. Let's talk about this fruit, Rambutan. This is not the first time I share about this fruitπ but once again, this is something familiar and easy to brag about because It grows in our house π, I mean the tree really grows in our house, it is part of my coffee kitchen at the shop.
this is how it looks like from the street
A Neighbour told me before that she never seen My FIL eaten the fruits, He picked up and then shared it to everyone, I was wondering whyπ― until He asked me when His son and daughter have a Rambutan Party and He just watch over them π. "Can we boil the rambutan, and would it be soften then, Ci?" πππ Oh My Goodness, now I know why he didn't join the party. Well.. My FIL is 80 YO and almost toothless. So, the answer is "Yes, Off Course, Father, why not?" π
And This is My Rambutan Soup for My Toothless FIL π
the proceed is like making the canned rambutanπ
All I need to make this are:
20 seed-free fresh rambutan
4 spoon full sugar (you can skip)
A pinch of salt
A piece of cinnamon bark
200 ml water
the hardest part of making this soup was to get the seed out, it easier to use your teeth to separate the flesh and seedπ
but I think that I will swallow all the fruits instead of making rambutan soup if i use my teeth π
Next, boils the water and sugar till teally boiled, add the cinnamon and then the seed-free rambutan, the salt (you can add cayenne and lemon juice too if you like it, I skipped because My FIL doesn't want itπ). Turn off the heat and let it cool down and the rambutan soften before serving. You can eat it warm or coldπ.
I served it to My FIL while it still hot and when I checked on him in 30 minutes after I told him to let it cool first, He already wash the dish ππππ. I haven't had a chance to taste any of itπ.
I assumed that the taste is nice and the rambutan soup really soft for himπ.
do you want it? Come to my house before we pick all the fruits upπ
Actually, I also made another dessert with rambutan, people here call it "trendy rambutan salsaπ" or Rujak Rambutan Kekinian. Almost the same methode except that we need lemon juice, tamarind juice, sugar and fresh sliced cayennes, mix everything and keep it the fridge for few hours before consume it.
Yay! Nice to have you back this week! I've seen a few people have been having some internet connection issues lately, so hopefully everyone is back in action this week. :)
What a great idea to make the soup for your FIL! That's nice that he could finally enjoy that yummy fruit, as well. I am so jealous that you have it right there to enjoy!
Thank you so much @plantstoplanks π I'm so proud about this fruit. People in my country said that this variety is the best one, because of its sweet taste though the fruit is smaller and the skin hairs shorter that other varieties.
Wish that everyone would come back and post something again this week too.
Nope @siphon... this fruit is far more awesome then lychee π it's a native and original fruit of South East Asia, but maybe you'll find some canned rambutan in you country too. Anyway, my friend from netherland found it at the super market too. You should try it ... sweet and juicy, the flesh fiber more solid than lycheeπ
Never seen this fruit before, I gues it has something to do with lychee. Does it taste like lychee?

I'll look for it in the asian food store...

I can imagine that this fruit tastes wonderful, she is related to the Litchi chinensis.
I think thst they came from the same family roots @proanima π except that rambutan is a native fruit from South East Asia

I bet that is really good! And good news for you - There will be a release later today or tomorrow morning with critical fixes for eSteemapp v2 and after that the next release will include tag exploring. They are working on it for us!
Thanks @melinda010100π just need some more time to make some adjustment, so I will be fine with the new version.. still need time to explore and get use to it
Me too! We have both been using v1 for a long time, and even good change is hard to get used to.
I hate that my photos now flipped to other side in the new version, not like the legacy one
Maybe that is one of the things that will be fixed in this next update!

Oh @cicisaja. Nice to see you again. I honestly envied you for having that fruit tree in your yard. Ohh, how i wish i can plant that tree to where i live. I'll be soo happy to see that everyday, especially with full of fruits. I am wondering imf you are selling this? It is common in the Philippines but not here in UAE, and is very expensive if you buy it here.
Rambutan soup, That excites me, honestly :)
I love anything with Rambutan. Extraordinary delicious i bet. Have a nice day and blessings!
Yes @sherylneilπ I saw you get the rambutans from your parents when they came to visits you couple months ago π remember the fruits from the villageπ Rambutan is the native fruit to South East Asiaπ where Our countries are.
I know how expensive is the rambutan when it sold far away from its growing place, even the canned one is expensive too. And my rambutan soup is more like canned rambutan, perfect for the toothless FILπ and I like fresh rambutan!
You know what sherylπ the rambutan that grows in our yard also called as "rambutan Aceh", Aceh is my Homelandπ if you're happened to be in Aceh when the season is right... you can have a rambutan party right after Durian's partyπ
Oh my goodness, your poor dad cannot eat the rambutan from the tree. Thank God you came up with a delicious recipes to served it to him. I hope he enjoyed it. But why are you calling him Fill? LOL! π πππΏπππ
FIL = Father In Law @lenasveganliving π while SIL is Sister In Law πππ you are the third person on steemit who asked me thatπ i can say that he's the reason why i cook various things for him
Oh I see! That is very clever and funny, lol. Well you are a very clever lady πΈππΈ
What a gorgeous fruit. It is interesting that the inside is so white, while the outside is so vibrant. I guess that is typical of things in nature though. That is a sweet story about your FIL.
Thank you @ginnyannette π My FIL is a fun person to talk with π. About rambutan, you'll like it if you like lychee or longan, the taste is sweet and juicy, but if you consume this more than enough, our throat would be dry, itchy and irritation.
wow it's very nice post and strawberry rose is so so so beautiful and niceπ¦π¦π¦π¦ππππ
Thanks @rizwansadiq the taste is really sweet, did you call rambutan as strawbery rose?
You have food growing on your roof ?
lucky :p ... like heavenly manna lol ...
long time no see, little steemmonster ;-) i know i'm more than a month behind but im still here
it turns out the drama king has an attitude problem
who would have ever thought that ...
Yeahh..not on the roof but in my coffee shop kitchen π really cool. So.. what's the story about the drama king this early 2019 has?
