As a plant based eater, my PET PEEVE is restaurants which are ill-equipped to provide for people with dietary requirements. If you can't eat chicken in lemon sauce, blank goes the mind. Chefs just can't handle it.
With all the fancy avocado mousse sauces and chefs with working spaces more like chemistry labs than kitchens, one would think that risotto and penne pasta would be a thing of the past. It seems that a lot of England is still seriously struggling with inventive and nutritious vegetarian and vegan options to serve.
Luckily, London is a world of it's own and way ahead of the curve - and so bloody well it should be!
Last weekend I met some beloved gal pals (@joham included) for brunch at London's Farmacy, a vegan eatery with an airy, botanical vibe in the Notting Hill area. Extensive menu for both food and drinks. I particularly like the subtle pharmaceutical references, right down to the plants which cover the entire interior.
Plants.. medicine... get it? Surely intentional?
Now for the main event and my entry into this weeks contest: #fruitsandveggiesmonday, hosted by @lenasveganliving.
Farmacy burger - full of vegan goodness
Ingredients: Millet, black bean & mushroom burger served with garlic aioli, goji ketchup, avocado, pickles, tomato & potato chips, served in a sourdough vegan bun
Thank God for burgers. One thing I missed for a long time as a veggie was biting into a burger, but veggie burgers done right can be seriously delish. This one was filling and full of flavour.
If you haven't been to Farmacy I suggest you give it a try.. a little pretentious for me, but hey it's both vegan and in Notting Hill. All in all, a beautiful, well known, vegan eatery with plenty of dishes to try and great value for money. Read more about Farmacy in @joham's post here.
A huge thanks to @lenasveganliving for hosting such a beautiful contest and drawing more attention to all of the incredibly delicious, wholesome food we could be eating.. which isn't risotto or penne.
Yasmine
I would love to get one of these bad boys @yasminep please ship some over to me
Haha you'll just have to come to London and try them for yourself! ;-)
Today is the International Burger Day - did you do this on purpose??? Hehe !!!
No way! Really? Funny enough, I had a vegan burger today haha..
No waaaayyyy! What can I say, me and burgers are forever in sync ;-)
Yes girls, in DA MOOD :D hahahaha

This burger looks marvelous Yasmine, I would love to have a big bite or two, lol. The vegan movement is unstoppable and we are going to see more and more vegan choices popping everywhere 🍒 🍌🍑🌿🍍🍓🍇
PS: Please in the future, make sure you have at least 3 photos for your entry. You may read the rules that I updated last month and I post them weekly.
So so great to hear.. and you're doing an incredible job of representing it on steemit! Well done you!
Thnak you so much my Dear 🍒 🍌🍑🌿🍍🍓🍇
I love risotto as well as vegan burgers! Beautiful entry!
Thank you! I love vegan burgers too! Risotto... not so much haha
😜
You could almost confuse that for a beef patty, the texture and looks are really delicious.
Tell me about it. That's exactly how a good veggie burger should be! :-)
Thanks for the post, the burger looks very nice.
I've been seeing vegetarian burgers in my local burger joints. They're making more and more meat-like patties and it's very nice. I've also seen similar types of not-meat used in pizza as well!
Yeah exactly. I've found some really juicy, succulent ones!
I definitely want to try Farmacy at some point. I tried this vegan burger place called The Vurger Co. today, their classic sounds very much like the one you had in Farmacy, I had the aubergine one and it was yummy!
Oooooh I must try that! Perhaps vegan burger joint for our next mini meet-up? :-)
A vegan place for sure, maybe not necessarily just a vegan burger joint though, so we can have options ;) There's this great vegan cafe in Bethnal Green (Gallery Cafe in St. Margaret's House) that we actually used for our first mini @Steemsugar London meetup! @immarojas isn't in London anymore, but @teodora is (and maybe @bristena94 too), and I'm sure she'd be up for this :) Is East London easy for you to get to?
You're meeting up in my neighbourhood without me? Victoria Park "pavilion" have those too. Ask Teo. Enjoy!
Won't be the same without you! Missing you lots Ate..
Let's have another one when am back, miss u guys!!
Catch up soon Ate! Big hug!!
Ah yes I know the one! I'm up for that. East is my favourite. Let's do that ;-)
Sweeet! Will work something out soon :)
Total fan of this! I've been a huge meat eater my whole life. It was just the way I got raised. I somehow turned vegetarian a few years ago, and I realised "there was more to vegetarian than risotto"... :) I started to discover the variety and amazingness of vegetarian food!
and god this burger looks delicious!! :D thanks for sharing!
Totally! Glad we are on the same page @sams-world. There really are so much nutritious and satisfying veggies dishes out there!
Looks taste and we bet it tasted that way too! Becca would love to have a vegan burger right now. There are vegan and vegetarian choices in Thailand, but she is getting a bit bored and wants to shake things up.
Australia is probably your closest point for inventive vegan and veggie options! Melbourne has plenty! :-)
Australia here we come... Nope, not quite yet. But soon, we'll love to visit you and try all your goodness! 😊❤️
Cambodia seems to struggle with that too. They do not look past the veggie noodles, curry or fried rice. Love the name of the restaurant btw... Food is the best medicine out there.
So true. Malaysia was the same and even then everything contained egg. I eat egg, but a nightmare for vegans. Agreed on the food and medicine!
Try catering for vegan gluten free and sugar free, table salt free.... I just don't bother going out to eat. This does look delicious tho
Wow, that must be tough! I think this burger is GF and Vegan, sugar free but not sure about table salt. This might be a good place for you if you're in the UK! They seem to really know what's in their food :-) Where are you based?
Great post and the photo has really captured the deliciousness of the burger, salivating already. I can't wait for the day when there's no bloody risotto in sight in the UK! x
Hahaha #saynotorisotto a great name for my book I think? haha
