Here we go Steemians!!! Today I will be posting about facts and some history about weather. Here you go with number 1
On March 8th 1972 the strongest measured low-elevation wind speed on Earth not from a tropical cyclone or tornado was recorded here at the U.S. Air Force's northernmost base, Thule Air Force Base, which is located about 750 miles north of the Arctic Circle in northwest Greenland. On this day the winds were recorded at 207 mph. One area near the base endured winds of 115 mph or higher equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane, for more than seven hours and winds of 140 mph or higher for three hours . The USAF reported that large rocks and chunks of ice were blown by the wind causing them to hit the buildings during this wind event
