What is it?

Time for my weekly contest inspired by a game we played with the kids at my niece's birthday one year, albeit slightly more advanced. As with all my contests they are simple enough, guess right and win.

What do you have to guess?

You need to guess this image. It’s a zoomed in shot from an actual object.

This one is just tricky and not impossible, so get your guessing brain ready and give it a go. I am looking for as much detail as possible.

This is a stalagmite that was removed from its cave and brought into the Cloud Dome in Singapore, for us wonderful tourists to view.

Yeah, actually, it looks like there's some regional variation in the monarchs - the first ones I was looking at never did the yellow to white without black in between - that's why I went to the other - though that one only does the yellow in spots...
