We seem to repeat ourselves when we say how your work is not done once you create your project. Have you noticed how we are constantly reminding you of that? It is because it is of great importance that you realize how only continues effort will get you to meet your goals. Today we will talk about project updates and why are they just as important as your first project presentation.

We also have a small update for you. There is no longer a need for you to scroll and search our feed for the educational posts but if it gives you pleasure go right ahead and continue, we will not judge :) All our educational posts are now in one specific place and easily accessible. You can find them in the crowdfunding-tips channel of our discord. This post, that will teach you why and how you should make updates, will be there too.
The first thing we have to cover are the technical details of making an update. Do not worry, it is not hard. When you are a project founder you need to click on your project and you will see the News button. It is right next to About and before Backers. All of them are located just below your title. When you click on the news you will see your project tag. That tag is very important and all your updates need to have it. You can make an update from steemit, any dapp or from fundition.
That is also THE ONLY TAG you need to put in your post. Nothing else. We have seen how a couple of founders put upmyfundition and other things, DO NOT DO THAT PLEASE. It will only break your update post. The thing is, the upmyfundition tag is automatic and when you too put it in along with your other tags, some of them get pushed. Just copy your tag and paste it, nothing else, and everything will work fine.
If you are creating your update from fundition, just follow the easy steps similar to those you had when you wrote your project presentation and if you are creating an update post from steemit or any dapp, write a post and use your special tag. It will be registered and it will show on fundition whenever someone clicks on the News of your project.
The reason behind updates is simple. We want to hear from you. Yes, we are interested, very interested but we would also like to know where our money is going. News about your project is the proof that you are actually doing your project. With some knowledge and effort, you may write a pretty decent project presentation and get some investors interested but if they see there is nothing more to it, they will not invest more and you do want more, don't you?
Give us the news, let us hear you. It will not only show your progress but also your determination to your project. It will show that you are serious about what you want to do and you are actually doing it and not only talking about it. Your updates will give us news about how your project is coming along and did you really do all those things you promised us you would. Donators are more likely to support your project and promote it to others if they see how their donations are being used and do not forget that you every project update can be supported. There are donators who do not donate until they see a couple of updates first and become sure you are serious enough. The most important thing to realize is that the more news you have the bigger the chances are that people will hear about your project, read about it, and potentially donate to it.
When it comes to writing a great project update, everything we have so far told you about writing project presentation should be applied here too. Use all that knowledge and do not make just a simple short post. Amaze us. Your update posts should be of the same quality as your project presentation post.
Your camera is your best friend when it comes to updates. We really want to see what you have done so take a lot of photos and choose the best ones to show us. Be careful that those photos are not blurry or the wrong size, your post still needs to look gorgeous. If you are doing a project on your computer that is about a dapp, some animation or anything else that you can not really take a photo of, a screen-shot will do just fine. Do not forget to actually explain what you have done because even though a picture is worth a thousand words, we would still very much like to read those words so take us through your process and explain the progress you have made.
And one last thing... Only explaining your project in your project update is not advised. Do not copy the same text you have already used. Sure, you can talk about your project but there needs to be some update in the post. If nothing new happened with the project than you have no material and should get to work. Be careful to give us information about the progress, do not skip it and do not hurry. Take your time and create the best project update you can. Use good photos, good formatting, and good text about an actual good thing that you did :)
