Hello everybody,

it is the second week of the @globalschool Winter Camp and last Wednesday the first group of students coming directly from Latvia arrived. But let's go back to the beginning of the week first.

Monday

On Monday, the tutors team met to prepare the students' arrival. In the program of the day: preparation of the schedule for the two weeks of tutoring and listing of the tasks to be done as well as goals to be achieved by the team but also by the students. The flipchart was once again full of content!

Also on Monday was the @opt2o board meeting with Helmut, @manncpt and myself (you can find the content by following this link). Once again I introduced myself, we reviewed the agenda of the day and discussed projects in the near future such as the organization of a Tea Time on February 22nd as well as the Changemaker Hangout on March 22nd led by Helmut. We also planned new dates for the Community Brunch, that will take place every second Monday at Hug Inn Vienna starting from the 4th of February.

If you want more details, contact us!

Tuesday

D-1 before the students’ arrival, no time for rest. The team meets at Hug Inn Vienna to discuss the architecture for the relaunch of the @globalschool website and to do some preparatory work for a task to be done by the students: the reorganization and improvement of the content of the website in order to provide you with a better user experience. And to allow us more speed in our day-to-day tasks, we have also reviewed our work tools and their organizations with @gexi.

Wednesday

It's D-Day, the students are there and the snow too! The whole team is ready to welcome them. For this, head for Hütteldorf Hostel, where they live during their stay. As I mentioned earlier, they come from Latvia, are students at the Banku augstskolas uzņēmējdarbības koledža (College for Banking and Entrepreneurship) in Riga and are between 18 and 22 years old.

We first met the teacher who accompanies them, then the students arrived, @gexi, @manncpt, @jnmarteau and I introduced ourselves and it was time for the interviews. Each of the tutors found a place to settle at the Hostel and met one by one with the students, asked them questions and discussed a little bit to get to know each other better.

Thus the students were divided into two teams based on their field of expertise: advertising and accounting. Once done, and in order to start working, the advertising team headed to @mammasitta's cocoon with @manncpt and myself and the accounting team went at Hug Inn with @jnmarteau. The students discovered in more detail the @globalschool project, all the work we are doing here, but also the means of communication in the team, how to use the tools and improve themselves. For this they did researches and gave their feedback, an external input is always very important.

Thursday

In the beginning of their second day, the accounting team went at @gexi’s place to learn about ERP systems and the advertising team went at Hug Inn to write a summary of wednesday’s communication startegy meeting, gave feedback on the website and prepared a visual to promote future @globalschool workshops.

Then in the afternoon the students came back at their Hostel for, as you already know from the previous @globalschool update, attending a workshop led by @reiseamateur about the steem blockchain. You can find the report of the workshop in @manncpt’s article, here.

But to give the opportunity to the students to express their talent as author, I organized a little competition within the advertising team: each one of them had to write a paragraph on the workshop they attended and I had to select the best work ... But as a writer, for me each text counts and so I could not decide! So here are the texts of our students:

Yesterday all of the students had a workshop about steemit. It was really interesting and something new to me. I have learned that in steemit are rewards when in Facebook are likes. I have learned about different steem platforms like @fundition, steemworld.org, steemprojects, steemapps, @dtube and so on. Also I have learned that it is not important how many reports you have got, it is important from which you got them. You can look how much percent you got from the vote. It was interesting that steemit has fast transaction and it is without any fees. Thanks you for coming to us and telling us about steemit.

Yesterday we had a chance to participate in a workshop held by @reiseamateur. A professional video marketing and cryptocurrency expert from Graz, Austria. The Workshop’s main goal was to introduce us to the Steemit community and briefly tell us about the blockchain and steemit ecosystem. He told us about globally scaled opportunities that this platform is offering to us and others. Thanks to @reiseamateur’s expertise we were able not only to understand the basics of the blockchain but also have a visual example shown to us on how this platform works. At the end of the workshop, we all were able to use this platform and did our first crypto transaction.

Yesterday we had a workshop with @reiseamateur - an Austrian blogger, who showed and explained us how #steemit works and what it is overall. Steem is a blockchain based social media platform with virtual currency rewards. We had an opportunity to work with private profiles and understand the work of steem it by doing it by ourselves. Some of us had quite a big inspiration and are ready to try this platform with their own profiles. It was really useful information and experience, thank you.

For me personally yesterday was a new experience, where we had a great opportunity to know the basics of “the steemit platform”. The workshop holder was @reiseamateur. The experience seemed pretty cool to me, because @Reiseamateur told us all about steem it basics, for example how the interface works, and how people can earn free money with just marketing a blog page, which is quite perfect opportunity for people. For example it’s like Twitter, but you can make a great content with text and blogging, where people can enjoy your life-style. And for sharing that you earn steem it’s money, which after you can easily exchange to different coin and withdraw on coinbase or any different platform. The platform works worldwide, so you can also see the people’s blogs about their life-style distinction of their theme.

After that, @manncpt and I went to the former University of Economics in Vienna (Alte Wirtschaftsuniversität) to attend an exhibition organized by the Academy of Fine Arts.

Friday

It's soon the weekend for the team but there is still a last busy day.

@manncpt went to Talent Garden (TAG) to meet Natalia, who is part of the Pioneers discover team as Senior Innovation Consultant, to talk about the pioneers program and @globalschool. You can find his article by following this link.

Again the accounting students went to @gexi’s place and the advertising team to Hug Inn. The students are very motivated and work on the visual identity of @globalschool but also its communication strategy. And after a busy day for everyone, the students returned to their Hostel to enjoy the weekend, while the team ended their day with a meeting.
