This weekend we received a piece of mail that had been anticipated in our house for a couple of weeks. My son recently auditioned for the Nashville Children's Choir, and we were anxious to hear what the feedback would be.
There are three levels of the Children's Choir, Prep, Concert and Touring. We thought with his church singing and being a part of the school Chorus this year that he had a decent shot at making the Concert Chorus. But when we opened the letter we were surprised to find out that our little 10 year old had made it into Touring Choir, the top level possible in the audition.
With his membership in the Touring Choir he will have the opportunity to do many performances in and around Nashville, possibly most notably, singing the National Anthem before our Minor League Baseball team's game this fall.
And then there is the big trip. As part of the Nashville Children's Choir's 30th Anniversary, they have been invited to perform as part of The International ChoralFest in Costa Rico.
So the first International Trip for our child, to an amazing country in Central America. Five days of singing and sightseeing in the tropics. Should be an absolutely amazing trip.
Here's the problem. The cost of this amazing once in a lifetime opportunity.
Yeah, it's a big ticket. $2000 each for my wife and I, and of course our little performer.
My hope is that I will manage to raise these funds through STEEM. The trip happens in June of 2019, so I have a full year to put together these funds. If I can raise 40 STEEM a week for a year at an average STEEM price of $3.00 then I make the $6000!
The goal is to post Once a week in the #fundraiser tag and dedicate all rewards from those posts to this trip. My hope is that there are enough people out there who can spare one upvote a week for this to work out and we don't have to create unnecessary debt for this trip.
So here we go, a year long experiment in trying to raise funds for a choir trip. Let's see how this goes!!

Thanks Bethalea! It is very exciting! But looking at the checkbook it is really daunting too! LOL
But we'll do what parents do and find a way to make it work. Because that is the life we want out kids to have!
