Help transform villages in Papua New Guinea with RACHEL

in #fundraiser7 years ago
Hi fellow friends on Steemit,
I want to share with you particulars of a personal project I am undertaking and ask for your support to help me deliver during this festive season. The project provides an opportunity for education and learning in underserved communities through an innovative digital platform known as RACHEL. RACHEL is an acronym for Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education & Learning and is a server (that's right a device!) containing leading educational and learning websites rebuilt offline "for use in schools, community centres, health centres, or places of learning worldwide where internet access does not exist or is limited" [Source: https://racheloffline.org/]. The content on the server can be accessed through compatible devices such as smartphones and tablets.

My project is titled "Giving RACHEL to the underserved" and involves the installation of RACHEL servers in three villages in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG) where internet connectivity is intermittent, unavailable or too costly. People in these villages will be taught the basics on how to access the server's (RACHEL) content and use the information in it to improve their lives in a practical way. I am very confident that the information resource contained in the servers and made available through this project will greatly advance the educational status of recipient individuals, subsequently enabling them to be more informed to make better decisions regarding their welfare.

To cover some costs of the project, I have organized an online fundraiser on the Generosity platform. Please feel free to follow the link below, donate to the project on the fundraiser on the Generosity page and help spread the message through your network and contacts.
