One of the projects I've had my eye on for a couple of months is FunFair. I've finally pulled the trigger on purchasing some during the recent market crash crypto sale, and if you're looking for a speculative play to diversify into, you might want to take a look at Fun as well.
The name, though personally evoking images of carnivals for yours truly, is a reference to the fact that all of FunFair's gaming technology runs on provably fair odds. Not only are the odds fair, but payouts and deposits will be handle via Ethereum smart contracts, rendering them trustless as well. As a former professional poker player who has been grifted more than once, this is a massive boon and key selling point to all but the most wildly degenerate of gamblers.
Several gambling websites have already been taken down for being hacked or unfair. No doubt many more still operate unknown as it is very easy to fudge the numbers in your favor and go undetected. I saw several poker websites revealed as unfair games during my time playing online, and it was a regular point of concern to the point where many gamblers would discount their bankroll 80 cents on the dollar if they held it in the cashier of one of these sites. This alone truly is a killer feature. It solves what should be the main problem for almost all potential users of online gambling portals: trust, in both the games and the custodian of your bankroll.
The idea behind FunFair is explicitly not to run an online casino directly. That market, though huge (as is the gambling market in general), is not what FunFair is aiming at. The idea is to license ready-to-use gambling technology already running on a publicly tracked ledger (the Ethereum blockchain.) Both desktop and mobile platforms are supported, and many of the games can be tested live at FunFair's website: https://showcase.funfair.io/
There are also two whitepapers available at: https://funfair.io/explore/whitepapers/
This strategy of not directly hosting the gaming carries the important advantage of rendering FunFair outside of gambling regulations, as they do not operate any gambling portals but instead license provably fair, ready to go technology instead. If the Bellagio wanted to start an online casino using the block-chain, they could simply use FunFair rather than paying to develop their own and save on expenses. However, the need to be licensed and regulated as a gambling institution remains with the Bellagio, not FunFair.
There is also chatter about future staking with FunFair, which would also potentially allow gamblers to stake their active bankroll balances. Speculation is all that is available at this point, but if you wish to do your own digging on the topic, you can start at the FunFair Reddit and this staking-related post:
As far as technicals go, FunFair is sitting on what looks like a pretty solid bottom. This is of course true of many other tokens and coins as well given the recent harsh correction that seems to have found a bottom. You can see the areas of support for both USD/BTC prices where I highlighted in red above.
It is important to note that for currently unknown reasons, FunFair was delisted at Bittrex recently, along with Rise, an unrelated token. This could be due to a perceived association with gambling (Rise it not gambling related), or for other reasons, but no obvious explanation is available. Price has dipped as low as 3 cents recently, so take care on your entry points if you choose to invest. A limit buy at 3 cents may not be tripped, but would be likely to show a solid profit.
Do your own due diligence. With Funfair at around 5 cents, I am rather optimistic at the current pricing.
Please do your own additional research, as I am not a license financial advisor. Tokens are safest held in a locker hardware wallet - consider using MyEtherWallet (with care) and a Ledger (or Trezor) wallet if you purchase and hold Fun. There is a great write-up with additional information available at Reddit here:
Note: I do own FunFair, in case you missed that in the first paragraph.

Nice info,I like your post.😀I like more idea of DBET(DecentBet) which tokens share profit of the gambling if you stake them or you can use them for gambling. FunFair is more popular but I don’t bileive that they will be used a lot.
Thanks for sharing this @lexiconical - Funfair is an interesting cryptocurrency. I have never bought in to it, as I feel like I have a strong enough portfolio as it is, but I can see why you would.
I might look in to their white paper, see exactly what they are doing, then post a full coin analysis, if that is something that you would be interested in? I'd appreciate your support on my latest post!
Lots of former poker players in the crypto space. I wonder if I would recognise you 2+2 user name. Mine was DanThePro, a knockoff of a great youtube pro poker player JoeThePro... but alas, I spent too much time watching youtube videos and lurking in bbv4l and the poker profession never really took off.
I think bittrex delisted a lot of their lower volume coins when they started adding in more usdt trading pairs. It may not have had anything to do with gambling.
Very impressive article great read hope to see more of your work again UpVoted
Adsactly Bravo, Bravo!! Your post are really Mewtacular!. It inspires me to be a better me. I am learning so
much not only from the information on your post, but also about presentation and design. Thank you!
So, you get the username wrong, you spam all over the place, your rep is trashed but...yet you carry on...
Interesting... You must be either a "mad genius" or simply mad.... In any case, I don't think this was the right profile to show up on...
I would wish you luck, but that would be hypocritical of me.
Having a fair and honest casino is indeed quite a killer feature. Is is transparant and publicly visible too? This would make it more trustworthy, but would also raise questions with regards to privacy!
That being said, I mainly responded because of that goldenpalace.com tattoo-woman. I completely forgot about that! haha, I wonder whatever happened to her. Somebody should do a show where they track these people down to find out :)
