Afternoon Hivers!
Today I am showing you some of the Mushrooms I found whilst walking through the Sherwood Forest recently.
As you can imagine an ancient woodland the size of Sherwood Forest is home to a variety of mushroom and fungi and no doubt has an excellent mycelium network due to the established age of the woodland.
NOTE - I am not a professional forager these are my own observations and please do your own research
I believe the below mushroom is a Sulfer Tuft identified by its yellow/orange colour and how it grows in a cluster.
Next up is the Amethyst Deceiver, I love this mushroom as it's purple, and purple is my favourite colour.
They are delicate yet stand proud amongst the leaf litter around them. If I was a fairy i'd choose these to sit on and watch the day's go by.
Below is a very nice example of a Bolete of sorts, not 100% sure which one for a fine specimen non the less.
Next I think this either a False Chanterelle but I could easily be wrong. Any suggestions?
I believe the below to be a cluster of Sulfer Tufts on a tree stump
Two fungi for one here! I would love for that to be Turkey Tail but I think it is something else instead as Turkey Tail is white underneath. Maybe a Smokey Bracket fungus? Along with some more Sulfer Tufts.
I have absolutely no idea what this funny spikey-looking mushroom is. But a quick google of Spiky Mushroom has lead me to believe that this is a Pholiota squarrosa or Shaggy Scalycap
I think this white mushroom is a form of Amanita which are poisonous to eat. So always be careful when picking white mushrooms! This one I think may be a **Destroying Angel Mushroom
