A gray day, should we go to the forest or not?!
The desire for a walk prevailed, and here we are in the forest. We can still walk along the sandy path.
Although the forest is sad, without leaves, the grass has turned beautifully green after the rainy season. And with that, mushrooms that love this time of year have sprouted....
They can move minimally. Because the branches contract when it's dry and expand when it's rainy. And so they produce minimal movement.
I first encountered this favorite mushroom of mine, Geastrum triplex... Three-layered star....
I came across an interesting fact about this mushroom...
The American Blackfoot tribe believed that finding this star represented an "Ethofantastic event"....
They believed that these stars fell from the sky. While the Cherokee Indians placed their bodies, stars, in the cradles of newborns. To protect them from evil spirits, until the day their umbilical cord falls off....
For me, all mushrooms are magical...
And I look forward to meeting them in the forest.
Here's another one you can't miss, Witch's Butter.
A gelatinous mushroom that loves this time of year, and lots of moisture.
Winter doesn't bother it as far as I've noticed. I once read that it's good for the lungs...
But only if it's cooked. We tried eating it, and my sister made a soup with it... taste, bland and gelatinous...
We didn't pick it anymore, but we didn't see it in large numbers either...
