I buy and keep napkins and utensil packets in my car. Some restaurants do not have disposable utensils or paper napkins. A few delivery apps give the customer an option to rate you. Pays to keep extras on hand.
I arrive at the customer's house and proceed to open my hatchback to grab the hot bags. I really hate customers that show up at my car after dark. This customer met me and was looking around my trunk when she noticed the clear boxes of utensils, extra sauces, straws, and napkins. The conversation goes something like this.
Customer: I'll take 10 utensil packets, a handful of napkins and some straws.
Driver: The restaurant included all of that in your bags.
Customer: I want extras. They're free right?
Driver: I purchase those and keep them in my car for tipping customers who might need extras or when restaurants do not provide them.
Customer: Why should I pay you to deliver food? I can get it myself. Just give me about 20 of each of them. I'll take some sauces to.
Driver hands over food along with a handful of various sauces: Here you go, enjoy your dinner.
Customer: Excuse me, I want those utensils. You can just hand them all over. If you don't I'll call your company and make sure you don't get paid for this.
Driver: I didn't get paid for this.
Customer: Don't get smart with me! I'll never order again!
Driver: Thank you. That would be great. Have a nice evening.
