So A couple of friends and I went to stay in a quaint area of the UK called the Cotswolds. Famed for its old stone villages, celebrity dwellers and general air of superiority.
We booked a small holiday cottage in the village of Hook Norton and planned a civilised trip.
On arrival we met in the village pub and had a couple of drinks, it was the excitement of not having seen each other for a couple of months which meant this couple of drinks actually led to a couple of bottles of wine.
Having looked at things to do in the area we had pinpointed the Hook Norton Brewery as a place to visit. They make Ales there and are one of the few breweries still to use horses to deliver their ales around the local area. See the sensible pictures below before it all got messy!
So off we went to the Brewery and into the reception, lucky for us with the natural fumes of Brewery they could not smell the alcohol from us! The next tour was in an hour and a half and they suggested a local pub round the corner where we could go and have a drink and wait, she actually had the audacity to suggest a tea or coffee..... So easily persuaded off we went. Its quite amazing how much you can drink in an hour or so.
The long and short of it is that we got too drunk and decided that we had seen the outsie of the brewery and the horse and couldn't be arsed.
So back to the cottage we went, we lit the fire (first mistake of the evening) and decided upon a game of acrds against humanity. You will note the blurry nature of the ensuing photo, representative of my eye sight at this point.
We got through several more bottles and then two of our party called it a day and went off to bed, not I though on no....
After putting the open fire on (bear in mind this is summer) we felt a bit too hot, almost as if we were on a hot beach somewhere, so, we felt it was sensible to bring the outdoor Parasol into the living room.
We then had a little look in the various cupboards and drawers in the cottage and came across a cleaning cupboard which housed a pair of fluffy slippers belonging to the Housekeeper. It was decided by partner in crime that they must be worn .......
We began to feel a bit chilly (it must have been about 35 degrees in there but we were cold!!) so we first put our socks on the fire , and then oops the slippers went on there
This should have been the end but no we wanted more fire, more fire..... It ended with me putting an entire bag of kindling still in the plastic wrap on the fire. There are no more photos as from this point the chimney caught fire and smoke was billowing into the room. We looked out the window and saw embers flying past, the alarms were going off and we were in panic mode.... windows were opened and luckily there were roof windows too. After some time things died down.
After such a scary experience, there was only one thing for it, a drink........
Lovely place. @brink79
