Given a five hundred year time frame the hurricanes are at record LOWS.

According to Wikipedia, the ACE for the 2017 Atlantic season is 182 so far, and that makes it an above normal season, ranked 8th out of 67 seasons.
that may be...after ten years of no storms cat 3 or bigger impacting the US.
