I find men tend to overthink their interactions with women. We automatically put them on a pedestal, building them up to be more than what they really are - human.
Treat them like you would a friend. Joke around with them, make them laugh, talk about things that interest you and, if they respond in kind, ask them about it. The more relaxed you're able to be, the less expectation you're able to have, the better off you'll be in the long run.
Easier said than done obviously, but work on it. Social interaction, like everything else, gets easier with practice.
