Redneck Repairs!

in #funny6 years ago (edited)

howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas
where it's a little warm today, around 100 degrees or so but that's ok
we have our ceiling fan working and a nice breeze:

That's a classic redneck ceiling fan right there, you don't need one of
those $400 things.

Well guys when I started a few months ago I did two redneck repair
posts. One of them made .00 and the other made .03! lol. So I decided
to run a test with a third redneck repair post and if it crashes and
burns then I'll give up on em. I think they're funny but maybe I'm the
only one.

Just look at the innovation and creativeness that went into these
repairs and tell me if you aren't impressed. These things have no
source really.. I've found them all over the internet, many on FB.

this is almost artwork here, look at how they maintain the original
contour of the car.

another example of skilled craftsmanship.. look at that fit!

excellent use of plywood, and those classic hinges? oh man.

hey a gate can be a door can't it?
beware-of-redneck-photo-u1.jpg

see, you don't need to haul around one of those donut tires, look at
how much room you can save by having one of these handy!

well, ya use what ya got on hand to getur done!

this repair is so skillful that all they need is a can of spraypaint and no
one would be able to tell no difference. right?

this here's a Texas replacement bumper, much stronger than that
flimsy little plastic thing from the factory
redneck bumper.jpg

I don't know what to say about this but I don't think I'd take it out on
the freeway!
redneck tire replacement.jpg

hey a doors a door right?
redneck door.jpg

custom window replacement for smokers
redneck window repair.jpg

the most ingenious repair of the day. love how they cut in those
treads!

what would we do without cardboard? I think he lost his plastic
replacement window though.
redneck-inventions-innovation-15.jpg

my personal favorite, the classic mirrored sunglasses mirror!

this here one proves why you should never be without your can of
Pringles!

or your zip ties

last but not least..if you lose your hood ornament there's no need to
spend $300 on a new one!

well that's all for today folks, let me know if these are entertaining
and gave you a smile and a chuckle or if they bombed!

thanks for reading and God bless you all!

for today's redneck joke I'm leaving you with a meme:

lol! God bless you guys.

Hahaha! I need to not look at these posts while the kiddos are sleeping. I had to stifle my laughter in order not to wake them.

yay! someone found them funny like I do! that is good news, I hope alot of people did, the first two times I posted similar posts I only had like 15 followers and that's not enough to get a good reading with, thanks so much!

One of them made .00 and the other made .03!

None of your posts would ever make so low again, I guarantee it. You're kind of a celebrity here now, and we treat celebs kindly...lol

Amazing how a little quick thinking can save a whole lot of money while getting things done. 'Redneck repairs' mentality should be adopted en masse

haha! howdy empress! thank you for the kind words although I don't think I'm a celebrity but I sure appreciate your words.
As far as the repairs I agree but most people would never want to be seen in something unless it was in perfect condition.
at least in the U.S. with such spoiled people.

Hey whatever works as long as the wheels turn. In VA they won't let that fly. We have to have our vehicles inspected every year. That's the communestwealth state of VA for ya.
IT's hot as hell here too, I was suppossed to mow. I said forget it.

haha! too hot to mow! yes sir I feel it. how big a yard is it? yep we have those stupid annual inspections in Texas also, very strict ones too.

It's not a huge yard. I'm not sure how big it is. I live in a house in town. So it's not huge. But my house is built into a hillside and the yard is at a hilly angle. That's why it's difficult.

oh yes cossmiccrimes, I;ve had yards like that before, a real workout but not the kind you want or need. that is a house that you're renting?

I own it (still paying mortgage though.)

My favorites are the tree trunk bumper, the custom smoker's window replacement, and the sunglass mirror replacement.

I really am laughing!

Some of these I just can't see working, like the Pringles can as pipe replacement. Wouldn't it get so hot under the hood that the whole thing would just burn up?

haha! yay! you found them funny! that is great news. I like your choice of favorites too. yeah the Pringles can may not be a long-term fix! lol thanks so much I'm glad you enjoyed them!

hahaha that 'smoker's window' just killed me!

When I was little, we had one of those cars where the drivers' window also had a second, little triangle window, and my dad, who was a smoker, would just crack that little triangle window a wee bit because he didn't want to mess his hair LOL

yes we had those kinds too, almost every car used to have that little triangle window. hey did you see my post on the crazy fire birds yesterday?
if you didn't..then I guarantee that you ain't never heard of anything like that! never. ever. totally crazy and thought provoking.

ROFLMFAO! I sure hope you don't give up on this series Cowboy. I always get such a good hearty laugh <333 :)) Upped & Resteemed!

really? it's good enough to resteem? wow I'm honored thank you! did you just smile a little smile or did you laugh?

I chuckled....smiled a little....and even chuckled some more LOL <333

yay! thank you., love making you smile because then you can feed your awesomeness to someone.

Love you Cowboy!! <333 :)

I enjoy all the redneck stuff. I still think it is not so much about what you post but more about the steemit level you reach.
As far as the club goes I was just curious. I am in some discords but not any of the ones that have much requirements. Was wondering if there was much difference
Really I just enjoy typing with a variety of people so mostly try not to get boxed into anything.

already i am too much tired now. this all photos make me more tired for laugh.
great collection sir.
Carry on. all like this.

hello sir, I want to tell you something in personally

The good thing about life janton is that humour is individual. I am not sure what to say about people who do these kinds of repairs. Maybe they do not have any money to get the job done by the professionals?

haha! yes Ma'am I would guess that most don't anyway, did they make you smile or did you feel sorry for them?

Hi @janton. I love these posts as it shows craftsmanship and thinking out the box.

yes sir cryptoandcoffee! I agree, I mean the innovation is pretty amazing sometimes although comical and not exactly beautiful! lol thank you sir.

😂😂😂😂. One of these guys with the wooden wheel was watching too much Flintstones! Yaba dabba dooooooooooo

ha! that's a good one sir blanchy! I take it you used to watch that?

I dabbled in the flintstones bit I way preferred the turtles.

ROFL, I have actually seen some of these type of "repairs" first hand....I may have used a few too!

haha! well as much as you get around I'm sure you've seen a heck of a lot! How long have you been an officer?

Just over 21 years. What type of work are you in ?

howdy again this fine Tuesday sir papacrusher! well sir...I was looking for work, something to do from home, when I found steemit and right now this is what I'm doing.
I guess it's a gamble but I think steem is going to be one of the few alt cryptos that survive and I think steemit will make it long term, is that what you think?
Mrs. J and I built a large, successful real estate business in Ohio but we haven't found a way to make money from home since we moved to Texas, still keeping an eye out though.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.. Loved most of them! Hey, that first one really done by you (ceiling fan)?

haha! that is so cool, that makes me happy, I didn't know if people would like these or not. the ceiling fan..lol..no not quite. that ceiling wall paper would be down instantly, Mrs. J would see to that!

Well, I am speechless. And they got away with that? I must say, these people are ingenious though.

hhahaha well sir don't tell me they don't have any rednecks in Singapore?

In Singapore, a car heads for the scrap yard when it is 10 years old. You will never, never see a car such as those in your post. :-)

what the? really? well sir..isn't that a little boring? lol. around here we see all kinds of entertaining vehicles! lol.

Oh yes, we missed on all sorts of entertainment here. :-)

hahha! yeah but the place is probably safer to drive around in that it is with vehicles put together with duct tape and cardboard! lol.

That was just tooo funny, best laughs I've had today...reminds me of a post I wanted to do that would be somewhat similar...not a redneck thingy but it would highlight some junk for sure....great post, thanks for the laughs.

oh thank you sunlit7! I was wondering how people would take this kind of thing and at least with some of you it's a hit so thank you for commenting. I have more silly stuff like it! lol.
yes do that post that you were thinking about too!

That was enjoyable, I hope you do do more.

oh howdy there sunlit7! yes Ma'am I'm so glad you liked it and I hope it made you laugh or at least put a smile on your face! I got more of this crazy stuff so sooner or later I'll do another one, thank you!

Hilarious and ingenious. I assume those vehicles are not on the road legal in every state in the US? I've seen cars like that on the road in Africa but nowhere else :)

oh yes sir steemonkey you did all kinds of traveling didn't you? no these wouldn't be legal anywhere but that don't stop them!

Fair play to em. There's just nowhere to get away with anything like that over here. This small island is just too crowded with nosey parkers, cameras and coppers!

howdy steemonkey! haha! they still call them "coppers"? I thought that was an old nick name from the movies, the old movies. lol.

The word seems to be the reserve of the Englishman of a certain age lol

ha! sir steemonkey a certain age like you are? so they don't still use it, it's probably seen as racist nowadays.

From Wikipedea
The term copper was the original, unshortened word, originally used in Britain to mean "someone who captures". In British English, the term cop is recorded (Shorter Oxford Dictionary) in the sense of 'to capture' from 1704, derived from the Latin capere via the Old French caper.

We still use it. Often shortened to 'cops'. As kids we would play 'cops and robbers'.

@janton, this is too funny! Growing up In Wisconsin you see this all too often. Another funny series would be ghetto repairs, see a lot of funny stuff down there in Milwaukee!

ha! I'm glad you liked it sir balticbadger..now what is ghetto repairs, is that also referring to cars or vehicles?

Yes! on time I saw a minivan with pizza box taped where the sliding doors should be haha. The police around there don't really enforce the laws the just respond when there is a crime committed.

really?? wow that surprises me. what are the guns law like there?

Not in Germany, I was talking about back in Wisconsin. Germany you have to et your car checked every to years and they check everything. You have to fix it before they allow you to drive it. The gun laws here are basically the same since Hitler took them away. You can hunt and then own shotguns and stuff but it costs thousands of dollars. Still, I plan on looking into it.

yes sir I think everyone should look into it but then you'd have to have several and hide some away in case they came to collect them. I'm shocked, I thought they would have relaxed on those laws.

yeah here in Texas the same way for cars, very strict each year with a tough inspection but rednecks don't care and alot of them don't go into town. lol.

Absolutely love this post, Jon. Too funny. I was surprised, though, that there wasn't a great deal more duct tape involved, though.

haha! yes I had one with a whole side of a car covered in duct tape with plastic windows and I forgot to put that one in but there will be more posts like this silly thing! lol.

Precious.

Just when I thought I had found my FAVORITE image... you had another one equally, or even, better!

Oh Lordy! The only one missing is the rope tied to the windshield wipers and the people have to pull it to make the wipers work in a rainstorm! lol

hahha! spoken like a true redneck goldendawne! I have heard about that but haven't seen it rigged up in a photo but next time you have to do that take some pictures! lol. so glad you liked them!

haha another series of redneck repair :D I love it.
Love the creativity and zero care about what people would say :D

hey hananali do you have these kind of vehicles running around in Pakistan? did you make a post yesterday?

I have made a post already, a real lengthy one :D These kinds of vehicles yes we have am not sure about these type of repairs though :D

ahhaha! what do you expect in your country, something that is brand new and never needs repairs or has any damages or do you just ride bicycles?

😂 we ride all these vehicles @janton but I am yet to see the repairs here, may be we do these too but I haven't seen any yet , I like rednecks as much as you do, don't take me wrong :D

howdy this fine Wednesday hahanali! well I thought maybe they were very strict there about keeping vehicles in good condition so that's why you haven't seen the repairs.

No that is not the case, but repairing cars is cheaper here than the US which might be the reason, or I have not really been on roads that often in last years may be but am sure people here are creative too :D

there are so funny , but you could call it recycling x

haha! thanks winchestergirl do you have any vehicles like that running around England?

not that I have seen , I think the police would not like that , there would not be roadworthy !

that's great, I could take a couple pictures around my house to add to it.

ha! no way funbobby51! well I love these innovative do-it-yourself fixes but most people would never be caught dead near one! lol.

I have a whole package of zip ties in my trunk.

ahaha! I love it man, that's the most practical thing to do, duct tape, wire and zip ties! lol.

Lol..I doubt, how could you get so less...unbelivable..btw you knpw what we call redneck??? ..its "Jugad" even last year steemfest ...roelandp mention the word in his inaugral speech..indians are best at it 😉

Posted using Partiko Android

howdy steemflow! oh how interesting..you are saying that people from India are the best at making do it yourself repairs? haha! I bet they are, they're probably used to it. Jugad sounds like "jug head"! lol.

Yups....we create alternative first before the original....hahah...do google about it..👍

LOL - I am not surprised by some of those repairs....
Some are quite ingenious.

hahaha! I'm so glad you got a kick out of these sir preppervetuk..I think these kind of redecks will be ok in a collapse, I mean all most all of them hunt, and if they can make a tire out of a tree I think they'll figure other ways to make it too! lol.
do you ever see vehicles like this in England?

Way too many rules and regulations in England for vehicles like this to be on the road....
It's actually quite amazing at some of the ingenuity that comes out.

oh I thought that might be the case over there, the ingenuity is amazing here on these or over there?

where did you get these photos...did you take them in your neighborhood? lol they are funny.. I have one somewhere I took out here .. I will look for it

howdy there photobe! no I didn't take these, I have been collecting photos like this from all over the internet for a long time, you have cars like this in your area?

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love these repairs! They are classic redneck. I just got to get me one of those bumpers! Hey, @janton, I think you made more than .03 so it is safe to do more!

ahhaha! yes Ma'am well that's good because I got lots more material! lol. yeah that bumper is a REAL bumper isn't it? lol.

On the pipeline, we used an 8 inch high pressure pipe for a bumper (instead of the Log) on the pipeline trucks. They would run compressed air into this pipe. The stored air was used to start remote pipeline pumps that had an air powered starters.

It made one Hell of a bumper too, LOL!
:)

Oh my word! Where did you find these...treasures? Are you on a scavenger hunt mission o something? These are very funny to look at, but then again, i don't know...maybe not so funny to the owners.
Well, we can say that that is craftmanship and they're being innovative lol kinda, lol. Gotta do what ye gotta do, right?

howdy again roger5120! yes Ma'am you gotta do what you gotta do and these guys did that with what they had! lol. do you see anything like that where you live?

Doing good how about you janton? Hope all's well. Yes, anything that'll work is always good. Cars like that? No, janton - not really, but I have seen where bikes, motorcycles, jeepneys etc that were loaded with people than it can handle and I think those are more dangerous.

hey roger5120.."bikes, motorcycles, jeepneys" sound like an Asian country to me, am I close?

Hello janton, how you doin?

Yeah, getting there. I had to gave you a hint. Jeepneys are found only in Asian countries. I wonder what it'd be like to have jeepneys here? You think it's workable?

howdy back roger5120! jeepneys? I've seen them over there in clips or tv but I'm not sure what they are, are they cabs?
I don't think people would like them here, we're too spoiled, the jeepneys look too old, not luxurious enough.

howdy janton, how are you? Good, i hope. Are you turning on your fan?
Well, you mean to say you've never been outside of the US? Or are you just pulling my leg? ha, lol

Anyways, no, they’re not cabs. Cabs are taxis on metered fares. The jeepneys are different from the taxicabs, although they're pretty much the same in terms of being a transportation vehicle.

jeepney.jpg

Jeepneys in the Philippines were created from US military jeeps because just before WWII ended the US military had a surplus of these vehicles there and before the military left Philippines to go back to the US they gave or sold some of these vehicles to the local inhabitants. But one soldier named Harry Stonehill, who was responsible for the disposal of those vehicles was reported to have engaged in a black market to dispose those so-called vehicles.

If these vehicles are implemented here it'll probably take time to get used to it. Or perhaps the Americans will rebuild them back to their former look or maybe even make it more fashionable and luxurious. You know what janton? I think this is the SUV version. So, it's already been made here, is it not?

800px-Willys_Jeep_1943.jpg

Then those local people began stripping down the military jeeps and used the body frames to redesign them; making, and turning them into colorful and decorated vehicles for public transportation like this one below as you can see in the picture.

HAHAHA!!! These posts are great!

ha! thank you sir I'm glad you liked them, I have more too so I'll another in the future.

The old missing a window, clear plastic fix. I see this where I live all the time.

you're kiddin me? I've never even seen this..there are that many rednecks up there? lol.

Well, I think you are getting more famous, cause this one is doing better than a penny. Them repairs is purty good, almost gooder'n mine.

hahaha! like you've ever patched up a vehicle like that! no way. I like the guy driving around with a chain link gate for a door! lol.

I can't say that I've personally tried any of these, but I have pulled a few to get things going until I could fix something properly

yeah me too but then never got around to fixing them properly! ha! hey what kind of work were you working on the last couple of days? some kind of monkey business?

I love creativity! Thanks for the REALLY funny post, Tex!

Talk about your "back yard mechanics!"

hahaha! thanks willymac I'm glad you enjoyed these, those guys are great, I think if the stuff hits the fan they will still figure out how to make it! I got more so there will be more posts.

Keep them coming! Isn't it great how people can "make do" when they have to? You have to give them credit for thinking - and living - "outside the box".

That, and not giving a rip what other people think.

hahah! yes sir willymac, most of us, at least the women, would never get in a vehicle with a door made of a chain link fence gate! lol. because it's all about appearance.
these guys don't care and I agree that it's refreshing. I got more so I'll do more posts.

Women tend to put form before function. That prevents them from seeing the elegance of simple solutions made possible through redneck engineering.

We need a Steemit tag for that!

hahaha! a steemit tag for redneck engineering! ha! that would be too funny.

It would be a more entertaining collection than I get from some of the existing tags!

You can't stop!
I'm getting all kinds of good idears😉

haha! that's too funny sugarcreek..well I know what you mean, alot of these are very creative! just don't go tryin to make a wooden wheel!

I won't but those kiddy pool fenders look real doable 😂

hahhaha! hey those were the perfect size and shape weren't they, and cheap!

Real cheap I got one laying around now was thinking the big Blue fenders might be just what little blue bird needs to set her off in a crowd 😂

ROFLMAO.
Whatever you do, don't stop posting this entertainment! Priceless!

oh well thank you for the kind words sir roundhere! I'd like to spend more time on my posts but I'm always running short of that but maybe things will change in the future. thank you sir!
