RE: Embracing Linear Equality on Steem: Unlearning the Sucker & Maximising the Arsehole in Me

It indeed sounds like a sad joke. I hope it is one. However, I must admit I understand the feeling. They way things work at the moment is really depressing. Something is wrong and needs to be fixed somehow...

Check out @trafalgar's comment at the top and see if you agree with what they're saying..

I agree pretty much with @trafalgar: 'individual profit maximization' is exactly the right keyword. Anything related to the social network part, community building, etc... comes after, if it comes at all. It is indeed damned hard to find anyone among the big stake holders who want to support curation projects and community-building efforts in one way or the other. I don't see those do not exist, but they are rare enough to be considered as exceptional. This is weird on a so-called social media platform...

There are only very few fools (e.g. like me) left to drive the development of an interest-based community, without caring too much about the monetary part, spending dozens of hours on the platform curating, commenting, building connections, etc... Maybe because we are by far not any big stakeholders.

Why I do that? Well, I am less and less sure to be honest. I still have some fun in doing this, but some days, I feel really depressed in seeing where support and recognition go (and how it is used)... How our efforts are destroyed by (bid and not bid) bots, etc... I agree that changing the economical model may help. Forcing somehow to focus on the longer term and thus come back to the initial social network part. But how, well this I don't know. I am feeling more comfortable with physics ;)

This being said, I have the impression of mumbling....
