I live in the US and I believe that women have equal rights. Still, I'd never be down on my knees begging a man to marry me. The man should be the one on his knees begging and the woman should be selective because her choices effect the evolution of the human species through natural selection. Even in the animal kingdom, males compete for a females attention and the privilege of mating, but the female makes the decision.

In the Nigerian society, the woman does not propose, the man does. The man might have even felt embarassed himself.

Yeah I think, especially in Nigeria, the man was probably embarrassed. I live in England and women are treated very equally to men but still it's incredibly unheard of for a woman to propose.
She didn't even do it indoor. She purposely did it in public - a mall. It's weird tho. What response does she expect really
