Welcome fellow steemians. I hope you'll enjoy reading about one of my favorites, "MR. BASEBALL" himself Bob Uecker!

recognize him? Johnny Carson dubbed him Mr. Baseball. He is from Milwaukee and has been A Brewers game announcer since 1971. That's 47 years!! Now 83, he is known for much more, however.

Forgotten is the fact he was for about 6 years, '62-67 a Major League catcher for the Braves, Cardinals, Phillies. Fact is Uecker just couldn't hit! Lifetime .200 in over 700 at bats. He did hit 14 Home runs!! But folks. this was a really good defensive catcher and smart. Hall of Famer Phil Niekro made Uecker his catcher of choice as Mr. Baseball was particularly adept at handling the famous and difficult knuckleball. By the way, it took Uecker 7 minor league season to even make the big club at age 28.images (3).jpgPhoto:google.com
But the funny man besides numerous Carson appearances, became a Miller Beer commercial celebrity. Remember?
And who will forget the great baseball comedy Major League staring Charlie Sheehan as "Wild Thing". Uecker played the Indians announcer Harry Doyle.
