Hi MarkM! Using the Devcoin/HIVE swap/mining feature set up by @devcoin a while back (assuming it is still available) would make it easy for Hivers to jump right in.

I will look into that. :) Meanwhile it seems reasonably likely that there are venues out there somewhere that allow using some kind(s) of HIVE-based currency or asset to buy Stellar Lumens, so jumping in on the #Stellar platform is probably not too hard to do from a position in HIVE?
For the HORIZON platform, I have been looking into what is involved in setting up a token on the HIVE Engine. Maybe an HZ token could be set up there. A problem we discovered when migrating to #Stellar though, which I now know to anticipate if I try to set up something on HIVE, is that it can take a LOT of a platform's native tokens - or some other token the platform allows one to trade directly against one's newly created asset on the platform - to build a good strong "buy side" for one's new token. So unless someone who already has a large amount of something that can be traded on the HIVE Engine directly against a new HZ token there if we create one is willing to take on "market making" I suspect it would be best to first accumulate a lot of some such asset before creating the new token...

Hey Novacadian! So glad to see you active here. The mining was kind of an staking pool, because in HIVE/STEEM users can delegate and proxy, in any case we managed to drive some amount of HIVE/STEEM POWER which translated into earnings for members and for reviewers (those helping with quality reviews). Unfortunately it wasn't sustainable and reviewers lost interest so the project halted. I think we can revisit the model now that AI tools are available, btw I have quite less time available so things will still move slow (but sound). If you are interested on resurrecting the DevSTEEM please count on me!
